Prompt # 2

http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/woodiebluez/?action=view¤t=scar2.jpg
I do a lot of photoshop work and these are two of my favorite pics that I've created. Although there may be a tendency to write a dark poem based on these pictures, it doesn't necessarily have to be dark. Let one of the pictures inspire you to write... whatever comes to mind. I just want to see some creativity, something personal, something unique.
Rules
1. Any style of poetry is okay with me as long as it HAS a poetic style. Prose
is okay too, BUT should use unique, rich phrasing.
2. Structure/format is important, but structure/format can be anything that
enhances the words on the page. Use your imagination.
3. Any length is okay as long as it moves, keeps the reader's attention.
4. You can paste which picture you use right above your poem or place the
prompt # in AN.
5. Please, no prewrites. I want to see something new and based solely on
one of these pics.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 11
- Rewards: Gold: 800, Silver: 500, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: I always say that it's hard to judge a contest... but this one was particularly difficult because of the diversity in styles. Some styles I'm more familiar with than others. So I had to reread a lot to make sure I understood style and content. My choices were made primarily on execution and overall effect of the poem... all entries were wonderful to me. I thank everyone who submitted a poem... if you liked this contest, I got another that's got room for a few more poems:

Again, thanks to all who entered.

That first picture is scary. I opened the contest to that and it actually scared me lol
When you look at it, it isn't that bad but at first glance...
silly me
Good luck with your contest.

Hee! Don't feel bad. I was using all kinds of textures and layers on it I lost track of all that I did. When I clicked it to see what I had created, it startled me too!

I really like the second picture. It is interesting rather than macabre like the first. When I can limit my view of the first photo to strictly mechanics - like, how did he do that? - then I don't mind it. To look at the whole photo is disturbing. But then, you didn't do that to have people just say "Oh what a pretty picture!" now did you?

No, not that interested in either "pretty" or "ugly" to be truthful. But whenever a picture can evoke an emotional response in a person then I'm satisfied. For me both pics evoke a strong sensory response in me (even though I'm the one that created them both) and that in itself I might classify as "beautiful." There's a horrible nasty car crash scene in the movie Death Proof that just sickens and horrifies me every time I watch it! And yet there's a certain elegence to the structure of the scene that makes it very beautiful. I hope that makes sense.

My Shadow: The Woman in My Heart
As I walk along these dark corridors
I wonder how this heart endures
Why must it go on
The pain and suffering in this game of yours
As I behold the blood inside the door
I ponder the agony in store
Why must it go on
The lies and curses in this game of yours
Oh tell me, woman of the shadows,
Why must it go on
Please tell me, woman in my shadows,
Why must it go on -
WOOOOOOPS! SORRY ABOUT THAT!
