Ok, many of us have had the pleasure of creating centos: Where you make a poem using lines from our poems. They may be random, nonsensical because you were made to take specific lines from specific poems, or they may make more sense because you were allowed to pick and choose which lines from which poems.
They may include: Sad, dark, humor, sensual, love, nature, or a little of whatever!
I want to see your underappreciated centos.
Guidelines:
1. Centos MUST be 10 lines or more.
2. Centos must NOT have won any trophies.
3. Centos must not be in any active contest at the time of this contest.
4. Pre-writes only.
Rules:
1. Nothing under 10 lines
2. Mark adult appropriately!
3. Any genre goes!
4. DO NOT put your AP name in your Author’s Notes!
5. Please list your original poems in your Author’s Notes
Here’s a sample of my latest Cento. I was able to pick and choose my lines, but was restricted to the poems I listed in my Author’s Notes. I just won a bronze for it in the following contest: http://allpoetry.com/contest/2463387
WHAT OF ME (Cento)
Her parents buried long ago,
she’s forgotten comfort.
Only bottled ashes on nightstand -
Words of remembrance and love
But what of me?
No kiss goodbye, not so much as adieu.
Strung out junky and whore to make ends meet.
She promised to do right and stay on track,
but curse you, I cannot.
Tangled in her yearning for freedom.
Years slip by, shivering and cold.
My hunger for darkness
encapsulates my empty soul.
At eight, my thoughts were darker.
Teddy bear once hugged weeps,
and forgiveness escapes me.
Author notes
The ultimate Betrayal
Hide Amongst Shadows.
Angel Wings on a Slum Girl
Against the Wall
Forever Inked
Little Did They Know
Mistakes Haunt You Forever
***Even though your lines may not have punctuation in the original poem, please feel free to edit your existing cento and add punctuation for better flow. In fact, I REALLY encourage it!!!
Good luck to all of you!
Kim

A cento is a poem created using various lines or even titles from poems you've already written.

ahhh good for you, Cento is maybe an under appreciated style here, many good things can be done with the words of the great writers...great idea...PK
-
too bad i don't have a prewritten centos to use. oh well.

I had never heard of a centos before, but this sounds like a pretty contest. Obviously I can not enter (having never heard of the idea, I have not written one yet) but I do hope you get some wonderful entries!!
