[overall just in disappointment on how a Poetry site has became not as Poetic as it use to be]
I write all the time, and I get very little recognition or criticism. I host Poem related contests and I get very few entrants. I had to close my last contest with only one person to enter [I thank you, myriad-dark]. it actually had meaning to it... just kinda hurt. yeah, its just internet. but if something serious happens in ones life and they get the strength to share it online, and it gets overlooked.. can't help but feel shunned.
so, Im hosting a contest.
that is poetically inspired.
this has a bit of everything.
almost whatever, but to an extent.
MUSIC:
I always have tunes to write from in every contest. it never fails.. I cant help it. it's my life. it controls my life. anyway, take whatever tune moves you and write from it. simple as that.
ART:
got an image or photo? you can use that as your inspiration.
QUOTE:
whatever inspires you. any Author, Military sayings or Creeds, quotes from Artists or Musicians, Quotes. that simple.
MOVIE:
more opinion-based inspirations. or create a skit! thats something different... should be interesting to see who chooses it =D
PERSONAL:
it's your life. and you can't explain it to anyone. well... write about it! it really is the best way to deal with life.. =)

these are just some suggestions for people who can't just seem to grasp anything to write about... well, theres some inspiration for ya ^_^

MILITARY:
I am a brat... of each branch, because of everyone. Mainly friends now, some family retired. (I would join myself, but I have enough issues that No one would allow me in, or I wouldnt be able to survive. rawr.. so I Support! yay)
[lil story:]
My best friend is one that has been Military since birth. He grew up with family in it, his interest revolves around Military (movies, techniques, such), and he was actually enlisted for the Army but kinda backed out at the last minute (for home reasons). Well, he really has more interest with USMC, so this past summer he went to MEPS, they permanently discharged him because they found health issues. now, his dream and future, his life... is forever altered. despite the fact he has forever knowledge on everything.. an injury shunned him away.
so, write a piece for our Soldiers.
write being "inspired" by my brief history there.
write Military.
I have so much love for it... it's unreal.
there are rules to this contest:
just dont complain.
it's open to anything.
I will leave comments, cause it's needed.
I wont "DQ", cause thats just wrong.

Dude, I understand exactly how you feel about the contest thing. My last contest got 22 entries, so I was stoked, but usually, I'm happy with three
It comes to a point where I allow multiple entries so that people who really are inspired can write multiple times.

Sorry... but this is all too complicated for me. I prefer competitions with a single clearly defined subject (NOT a "prompt") expressed verbally, without music, pictures or other impedimenta.
In particular, I do not understand what you mean by "poetically inspired". Do you mean inspired by another poem? (If so, where do the music, pictures etc enter into it?)
I do sympathize, however, about the lack of entries. My last competition had a mere 29 entries - and about 1/3 of those were not even relevant!

don't be sorry. if this is not one you wanna enter, you dont have to. it really is just a "whatever" contest. I just dont wanna have it overflowed with what I see as nonsense. just some options for others to pick from... everyone is different. i like to have variety.
poetically inspired, to me, is found everywhere. if one is able to write a poem by listening to a lyric, or visualizing an image, and somehow connect it with what they wanna write about, or also by another poem- all seems to be Inspiration. but thats how I see that phrase, thats why I put it.. rather its a person, object, or another one's words, and you can write from it... inspiration.

Good idea though...this is what we wanted.
Everything seems to change like that though.
MTV- turned to crapity crap flying at your face. then they made MTV 2 to actually play music and it ended up like the first one. Fuse was made for ppl like you and me and it started to turn into MTV. And G4 is a gamer channel and now it plays stuff that has nothing to do with games. and the original game shows seem to have gone corporate.
ha, and that's just tv!
