prewrites. for my favorites ONLY.

Hey.

This contest is for my favorites only. I just hosted a handful of general contests, so I don't feel bad for doing this. If you want to harrass me, then please don't do it in public, because it makes me sad to see people make an ass out of themselves in front of everyone.



Anyway, I am allowing you to enter up to three POEMS. No prose! No prose! No prose! Please no prose! I will remove it! I'm sorry for sounding so obnoxious, but watch...there will be about five prose entries in this contest. Haha.

I am hosting this contest, because I realize that I have taken my favorites for granted. I have been so busy with school and working and just simply being a teenager, that I forgot to balance my AP time. My AP time has mostly consisted of commenting for the X Factor rounds, fellow competitors in LaLa (another multi-round contest), and the general contests I've been hosting. This is the time I am investing for my favorites that I have missed. Please enter!

All of you are very talented and I am looking forward to reading your stuff.

Remember, poems only! No prose! And also...make sure what you enter is something I have NOT commented on yet!

  • Final notes:
    I don't think I have ever spent so long judging a contest. At first, I had 40 entries in the finalist list. I narrowed it down to about 24 before I had to reread them again. Finally I narrowed it down to 12. That was extremely difficult, because there were so many good entries - all of different styles, themes, tones, etc. It was difficult to decide which ones to keep and which ones to let go. I'd say about half of the entries would have won at least a bronze trophy in any other contest of mine - any other average contest. 72 entries total! This was definitely one hell of a contest. :]

    Anyway, there are the winners. I am a bit frustrated that AP limits the amount of trophies given out, but...that's just how AP works, unfortunately. I felt the 9th-12th place entries deserved such recognition and award.

    Anyway, the best contest I've ever had by a landslide - I highly doubt this contest will ever be topped.

    All of you are very talented. Don't ever stop writing, because this is what you were meant to do. Do it, not only for yourself, but for the world. The world needs to hear your voice & what you have to say.

              i try. its so frustrating when the most amazing writers don't understand how amazing they are.

              caitlin, (candy morphine) used to talk about how she wasn't a good writer, but i snapped her out of it, or at least she doesn't say it around me cause i get mad if she denies her talent.

              sarah, just write something, it'll be amazing no matter what it is!

                      you have that quality.

                      actually, for the rounds that i entered, i referenced some of your poems because they were brilliant. i wanted to tribute the judges, and it took all of five seconds to find amazing poems of yours that i could be inspired by and write something to connect or try to.

                      i mean everyone has writer's block though or times when they feel they can't write. that was like three weeks of the summer, even when i wanted to straight for me. and it sucked cause i was at home with an appendicitus and nothing to do at all, anyways, so i had the time.

                      and it was the past week up till yesterday. i'd want to , and need to write and sit down and couldln't really think of anything.

                        Well I am flattered that you want to put me in that category. I hope that I will not end up disappointing you.

                        Yeah, writer's block is a terrible disease.

                        I try to write almost every day. I don't post all of it here, but I do write a lot. And some poems turn out better than others, it all depends, really.

                          i hate writer's block when i rlly wanna write and don't have much time.. it's so frustrating, cause i dont' think of anythign until i have to get off the computer..

                          writer's block is awful.

                          i used to write every day. however, school makes it hard too

          just be patient. one day it's going to burst out of you like a bomb and you'll blow everyone away.
          you've done it before.
          i've done it before.
          they don't all happen consecutively,
          but when they do happen, it's amazing.
          just keep writing...soon it will come for the both of us.

            guess I just get tempted to feel like a failure cos there are amazing poets on this website that are younger than me, and I feel like I'll never reach their caliber of awesomeness..

              thanks. and we're all young, we're like a bunch of seeds still, trying to get through the soil and soak up the sun. don't ever doubt yourself...there will always be people who do better than you sometimes, just like there are people who do worse too...it's just life. at the end of the day, you're still talented and improving...and that's all that matters.

                  yeah i know exactly how you feel. whenever you're feeling down and doubtful...just take a walk down memory lane, lol, and look over all of the positive comments your fans leave you. that's what i do. and that's what keeps me going, despite my moments of weakness and worries.

    lol..totally know what you mean..for me AP time is also being cut down (La-La contest takes up the majority of the time ) this contest is gonna bring you a ton of amazing poets have fun reading/judging
