“Nature is more advanced than people.
Every snail has a home.”
– Lu Wong
I was flipping channels on the TV when I got home from work last night; I stopped on our PBS channel because there was a show on talking about art and poetry that I thought sounded interesting… The above quote is from a Mongolian man, Lu Wong, who carves amazing sculptures of animals starting with one solid piece of stone, he also happens to write poetry and this was one of his that the show I was watching quoted. I was just struck instantly by the profoundness of such a short poem, and thought that it has got to be the most truthful statement I have heard in a long time.
Use the above quote to inspire profound thoughts of your own… other than the rules that I will mention below this contest is a free for all and you can go wherever the quote takes you… I want to feel enlightened by your words!
RULES
1. Free verse and rhyme ONLY! And if it's rhyme make it GOOD! No erotica, No prose and no dirty/pretty
2. No TYpiNg lIkE ThiS or LIKE THIS.
3. Proper spelling, grammar and punctuation a MUST. If something isn’t right I will let you know and you will have until judging to correct it, or face DQ.
4. 20 line MAX… the fewer lines it takes you to impress me with your profound thoughts the better… 10 is more impressive than 20… a “blow me away” haiku would be totally impressive.... just look at how few words Lu Wong used
5. You may not enter your poem in another contest while this contest is still open, let’s respect the brilliance of the quoted man. If I see a poem added to another contest I will remove it from mine.
6. YOu do not have to use the pic as inspiration or even with your poem... but if you do place this link in your AN to give proper credit where credit is due... http://gumrin.deviantart.com/art/Snail-9802631
Knock my socks off and have tons of fun!!!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 9
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 4 people
- Final notes: Thank you all for entering such amazingly wonderful poems. I am always astounded by the skill each poet possesses and by the different dierctions each poet can take a prompt! Sorry it took me a few days to judge, I was away over the weekend. Anyway, every single entry was stupendous, as they always are, and made this another difficult contest to judge! The top three are the poems that really made me think. Even in the simplest statement there can be found the most profound meaning and the greatest metaphor, and I personally feel that is what was stated in the gold trophy winner. So... here's to you all. Thanks for entering and hope to see you next time around ^.^

I like the quote. Another one is "Even a rabbit has two holes." I said this to someone trying to rent me a place with one entrance and no balcony or back door.
