Christmas is undoubtedly the most important holiday celebrated in the Western World (and many places outside of it, such as Japan). What I would like is to see some really GOOD poems about Christmas. They may be religious or secular, since Christmas has two separate facets. I, myself, am a Methodist, and not in the least prejudiced for or against religious poetry, but it really is not what I'm looking for here. There will be many opportunities for you to write or enter contests asking for religious poems before the end of December. Unfortunately, most such poems are really bad poetry, and I am looking for good poetry. If you can write a religious Christmas poem which is also an excellent poem, fine, but if not, save them for another contest. I also don't want to see any bashing, not just of Christmas, but of any one or anything. Christmas is not about negatives. It also is not about exclusitivity. Christmas is a holiday for everyone who wants to celebrate it, and no one has a right to tell anyone else they can't celebrate it if they choose. I have Jewish friends who celebrate Christmas, and I'm sure that there are many people around the world who are not Christian but still celebrate Christmas. If you don't approve, fine, don't enter the contest. HERE'S ONE OF MY CHRISTMAS POEMS TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR:

NO PROFANITY. None. Zilch. I've already had ONE mental midget enter a poem with profanity. I don't want to see any more of them. Also, avoid the supernatural elves and fairies stuff. There will be plenty of other contests for that kind of thing. Also, skip the fairies, humor and folksy writing. Save that for another contest.
Since I am quite ill, I may not comment on all poems, but obviously I will read all entries several times.
The contest will stay open until the end of December, so you have plenty of time to write something. Prewrites will be accepted if they are good. If not, they will likely be kicked out since I won't feel like going through and rereading poems which have no chance of winning anyway.
Good luck to those who wish to give it a try.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 22
- Rewards: Gold: 800, Silver: 300, Bronze: 150
- Final notes: I've decided to close this contest early. I am busy with several things now, and don't feel well anyway, so I don't want too many loose ends hanging fire. Anyone who doesn't place here is welcome to enter their poems in the other Xmas contest I have open now.
I hope I've managed to comment on all entries, but if not, that's all the more reason to enter the poem in the other contest. I will hopefully be feeling better after Thanksgiving, and will have more time to spend on perusing the entries, and, of course, commenting on them as well.
Thanks to all who've entered. Good luck with your writing in the future.
I'd highly advise all of you to read the winners here, as they are extraordinarily good poems.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

may we enter more than once? I have a prewrite for Christmas, but I also may want to pen something new... I usually do for Christmas, it's sort of a tradition.

I am tickled pink to win this, there are some truly excellent poems entered and to be judged gold by one of the best in this company is an honour, thank-you for that, thanks to the other entrants for some good reading and congrats to the other winners.
