Write Home...

I am in the US Air Force, and I would like to start a contest to give me something to do for awhile. (Not much to do but work, when you are not home).

I am from Illinois, but I am currently stationed in the UK. I will not be home again for over a year (thats right, I miss out on holidays, AND my birthday with my family).

I would like everyone to write a poem to someone very very close to them (family member, best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, spouse) as if you were overseas and you would not be home for a long while. What would you say to them?

And I want to give a special thank you to the person that donates so many points to make this contest possible! You know who you are! Thanks!!

1. Each person can enter two poems, but I would like them to two different people. (not required to do two)

2. No hate letters!!

3. Bonus points if it references military (not AP points, because I'm pretty much out of those, but just influences the judging a tiny bit )

4. If you need inspiration or an idea or whatever... this poem will give you an idea... It is not exactly my topic, but I wrote it the week I was about to move away so it is somewhat the same idea.

5. I dont think swearing really has any place in this topic. Period.

6. I would like as many entries as possible... I have some extra time on my hands right now.

P.S. I like good grammar, I think it hurts poetry when grammar and spelling are wrong. A mistake here and there I can look over, but if it is consistantly wrong, I find I get uninterested fairly quickly. This means no Chat talk either.
