X Factor 3: Round Seven [Top 7]

Seraphim Shock

Eliminated
8th. Heaven All Alone
9th. Lacuna
10th. Immortal Obscurity
11th. New Born
12th. Vintage Chiffon
13th. Noir Mariposa...x
14th. Najji
15th. Whispered Devotions
16th. Tzipora

This round the seven of you will be writing a script for a play.

I did have an example, but apparently it was deleted.

So this works for me:

http://www.coxhoe.durham.sch.uk/classrooms/Y4%20Learning%20Resources/Play%20Script%20Rules.htm

Let that be your guide.

I'm not giving you any length restrictions. Make it as short or long as you want - whatever you need to do to get your point/story across. [We're not expecting something of MacBeth-like proportions here either...]

I would like your plays to bring out flaws in our society. There are some things that need attention...and here is your chance to express it.

A new rubric will be devised for this particular round.

Good luck. :]

~

Note: Zach (former contestant from XF1 [Top 13]) was generous enough to provide an example of a script. Here is his example: http://www.scribd.com/doc/21364488/Jamaican-Syrup-and-Hot-Griddlecakes

Thank you, Zach!

Okay. If I'm stupid, tell me, but I'm the most forgetful person I know, and things just kind of... drip out sometimes. Like this.
Mentoring's gone, yeah? Or is that just with LaLa?

    • good question. lol i have been busy and don't really have time to mentor. =/
hmm. when i get home from school -- well, after soccer practice -- then i'll see how i'm feeling and will make an announcement if i'm up for mentoring. :]

A'right. If you're not feeling up to it, I won't bug you-- I was wondering if any of you, in general, were still doing it.

soo I'm not even 100% finished yet and it's already like 330 lines. I mean, that takes into account descriptions and settings but should I try to shorten it? no one else's is like half as long as mine and I don't want that to count against me or something.

    • Nope. I want you to keep going with it. If you shorten it, then you might ruin it. If you see spots that the script can definitely do without, then I'd say cut out those parts. For now just keep going until your message is fully conveyed.

  • rubric for the B4 elimination challenge.

    Originality/creativity: 10/10
    Line breaking/format: 10/10
    Personality/emotion/voice: 10/10
    Challenge/rules are followed: 10/10
    Punctuation/syntax: 5/5
    Spelling/diction: 5/5
    main message/idea/theme conveyed: 10/10
    Transition/development/cohesion: 10/10
    Impact/reaction: 10/10
    Overall opinion: 10/10
Score in the main challenge: 10/10

    X factor bonus points: 5/5

    Total: 100/100

Note: "Score in the main challenge" - this means that your performance in the main challenge will make up 10% of your grade in the B4 elimination challenge. If you got a 93 from judge A, then judge A will give you 9.3 in that category. If judge B gave you an 89, then judge B will give an 8.9 in that category. This has been implemented because the main challenge should have some weight in the B4 Elimination challenge, especially if (hypothetically) someone chose to give a half-effort job because they'd have that second chance anyway. This has been done to prevent free rides or half-effort attempts.
