This was prompted by the Louisiana Justice of Peace who refused to marry a couple because they are interracial. I happen to be in an interracial relationship and would have been devastated if my J.O.P. said he wouldn't have married us. I want to see poems about racism and the effect racism can have on a person's community and a person's self. Here are some suggestions on where to start.
-Tell me about the pain of discrimination you have felt or seen.
-What you would like to change to stop racism.
-If you could tell racism ( not the people, the disease as I like to call it) a few things what would they be.
There are really no rules , but I would suggest that you not write a poem encouraging racism or you will not win.
I will add more points if I make anymore before this contest finishes.
Also if you are interested I am currently running another contest open for entry Big points on this one, why I do not have much to go around here.-

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 5
- Rewards: Gold: 450, Silver: 150, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: Honestly I wanted to give everyone an honorable mention, then I found out you can only do 5. All these poems were great and I am glad that you guys entered my contest.
HMs are not in any order.
Please do not get mad if I gave the same person 2 trophies as this contest is anynmous so I have no idea who is who.
If you would like I have another contest that closes in 2 days, hopefully. It is dying for some entries and Gold takes away a 1000 points. http://allpoetry.com/contest/2463741

Please see my poem "After Attending a Diversity Workshop" (http://allpoetry.com/poem/5238678) -- it's a pre-write, but otherwise does address this topic, and I'd be interested in your comments.
