Whenever I'm reading and I run across a word I don't know, I always write it down. Some words catch on with my overall vocabulary; some I never use or think of again.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: pick ONE of the following words I have at some point looked up, and write a poem which incorporates it. The point is to make it blend in, though--use it as if it were a word you used every day (hey, maybe you do, for all I know). Don't call too much attention to it. Definitely DO NOT spend the poem defining it.
The poem can be about anything, as long as you use your chosen word somewhere in it, so be creative!
---
Here are the word choices, with short definitions provided:
1. Eristic: provoking controversy
2. Cavil: to oppose or bicker about without reason
3. Avulse: to violently separate
4. Peccant: sinful
5. Orogeny: the process of mountain formation
6. Risible: eliciting laughter
7. Ague: a fit of fever or chills
8. Meretricious: gaining attention in a vulgar manner; insincere; of or related to prostitution
9. Apophasis: an allusion to something which is made by denying it will be mentioned
10. Pavonine: of or like a peacock
---
RULES:
--Spelling and basic grammar count
--Simple backgrounds and formatting are vastly preferred
--No more than 50 lines
P.S., it'd be nice if people picked a variety of words, so try not to choose one that has been used several times, unless you're just dying to use it.

A pity one may only use one of the words. I might write a poem with all of them, for my own amusement.

Thank you ever so much for the bronze
Congratulations to the other winners and thank you for hosting
