Red Light
.
Melbourne, it was a little red light
sewn under your skin.
From thirty k's distance
we could still make it out.
Sitting on the roofs of our parents' cars
in outer suburbia
we watched it winking,
traced it along the lit veins of your highways,
in and out of traffic, past the docks and
down blind alleys where everything
that had been said and sold and bought and done
in the lost hours of a hundred and fifty years of Saturday nights
had seeped into the cold stone and left it wanting.
From thirty ks distance,
from as far away as childhood,
it was a little red light
moving under your skin
and we were all meant to be someone else by now.
Melbourne, you promised.

This poem simply tells you that I, Danni, wish you to be innovative rather than gushy.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 13
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 400, Bronze: 250, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: Sadly, Lyndon could not join us for this great tour of cities around the world. My co-host, ZachP and I enjoyed reading you wonderfully descriptive and varied entrees. We had difficulty choosing the top eight. The cream, naturally, rose to the top for Gold., but we found many worthy entries.
Thank you all for entering.

Hi, Danni here.
As you commented, I guess you are in the contest.
It is anonymous to me.
Soon. I am on tour and using my laptop as I can. [String Quartet Tour]
Perhaps on the plane.

I'm working my way through this as quickly but thoroughly as possible.

No problem. I was just wondering. If it was going to be awhile, I wouldn't bother checking all the time. I'm kind of an "anxious contestant". cq
