Here are the thirteen Prompts. Choose one and run with it!
A.) Subject Prompt.
1.) Write something to do with carnivals, circuses or amusement parks. You can go in many directions with this, such as a poem on childhood memories, you could personify a carnival ride, tell the story of the traveling circus people or whatever. The more unique the idea you give me the better!
2.) Pen me something celestial. It can be about anything in for to do with the sky, such as the clouds, stars, sun, moon or whatever. I will even accept things about heaven or your equivalent. As long as it has something to do with the sky it is all good.
3.) Write a poem depicting the future. I don’t want your personal future but your idea of the future of mankind. It can be spooky and eye opening like 1984 or the matrix or it can predict a good outcome, no war or hate or it can be whatever. I am looking for a little sci-fi with this, not star wars sci-fi but thought provoking question society sci-fi.
B.) Quote Prompt.
4.) “I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.” ~ Edgar Allan Poe
5.)"The earth laughs in flowers." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
6.)"A poet is a man who puts up a ladder to a star and climbs it while playing a violin."~ Edmond de Goncourt
C.) Song Prompt. (if you can listen to the songs please do. If not, inspiration from the lyrics is enough)
7.) ‘Subdivisions’ by Rush. http://www.lyricsfreak.com/r/rush/subdivisions_20119867.html
8.) ‘Thick as a Brick’ by Jethro Tull (this one is lengthy so if you have a short attention span I don’t advise this one. ) http://www.collecting-tull.com/Albums/Lyrics/ThickAsABrick.html
9.) ‘White Rabbit’ by Jefferson Airplane http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/White-Rabbit-lyrics-Jefferson-Airplane/7109AE560A05F54748256BF40008120A
10.) ‘21 Guns’ by Green Day http://www.elyrics.net/read/g/green-day-lyrics/21-guns-lyrics.html
D.) Movie Prompt.
11.) Mary Poppins
12.) Peter Pan (whatever version you prefer)
13.) Sweeney Todd
Rules
1.) No bashing
2.) Prompt and # in AN
3.) Please write POETRY not PROSE. Prose is defined as any writing that is not poetry and this is a poetry contest.
4.) Nothing overly erotic. Make it appropriate for most ages.
5.) Try not to be overly religious. Like I said it is alright to write about Heaven and you might catch some religion with other prompts but don’t go overboard with the religious stuff please. I just am not a fan of overly religious poetry so be careful.
6.) you can enter up to 13 times, once per prompt.
7.) One last thing. Even though I love the Beatles please do not enter something Beatle flavored. I will favor it and that will make judging unfair. thanks
I hope for a large turnout. Tell your friends!! And please enter more then one poem if you can.
Thanks lovelies
Peace
