ok.
so this contest is not necessarily for poems.
but i'll explain what it is.
i want you to write a little blurb about "how you write." i want to know what your philosophy is on poetry in general. i want to know everything.
you can start out talking about how you write. do you just sit down and go? do you think of what you're going to write, and then build from it? do you map out the entire course of a piece and then execute your plan?
you could go into what stylistic things you think you do originally. you can explain what you think makes your writing truly original to you. what is something you do that no one else can copy or emulate? tell me what makes you an ARTIST.
now i DON'T want this: "Uh, I write basically about things that are like emotional and I try to use metaphors and similes and stuff and sometimes I use cusswords but not a lot cause a lot of people don't think they are really poetic but it's ok cause sometimes I like definitely use similes and my grandma read one of my poems once and was likg OMG this is real good."
- if I get any BS like that I will DQ you so fast.
write about WHY you write. write about what makes you YOURSELF as an artist. write about what process or techniques you use to convey everything you want to through your words.
points might ascend if you guys impress me

I write because I must.
There have been a lot of times people asked me, "How do you come up with your poetry?"• Viewed by judge. -
I thought about this question for a long time. I thought about how I could write it. Should it be done in poetry form. Can I tell it in a story. Can I put in a nut shell as to why and how I write. My first thought when I reaby laura0757 28 lines, 1 comment, on Oct 5 11:55 AM• Viewed by judge.

I began to write as a means of revenge, I found that I quite liked it and from judging by the comments and the trophies I have won I wasn’t all that bad.

Hrm. Perhaps, if I'm feeling up to it. I hope you get intelligent entries.
-
i was just thinking about this.. and here is where my thoughts led me:
...Uh, I write basically about things that are like emotional and I try to use metaphors and similes and stuff and sometimes I use cusswords but not a lot cause a lot of people don't think they are really poetic but it's ok cause sometimes I like definitely use similes and my grandma read one of my poems once and was likg OMG this is real good.
is that what you're looking for?
-
If you change your mind and admit "previously written" please let me know.
-
aw, just wrote something like this, too early i suppose
-
'now i DON'T want this:' that part had me laughing for awhile.
-
after our argument, i pulled out of the contest. i opened up a great deal to you here, but it was something worth writing since it is an important part of my life. whenever you have the time, it would be cool if you'd read it, since i probably wouldn't have wrote it in the first place if anyone else was hosting this contest (well, with the exception of angela, laura, and chandni).
