On the Turning Away

This is a lyrics based contest, allow the amazingness that is this song, 'On the Turning Away' by Pink Floyd to get the inspiration flowing =]

The Lyrics:

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand
"Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away"
It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it's shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud
On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night
No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?

I would suggest listening to the song, not only is it great =] But you may find the lyrics are more inspirational in tandem with the music. And of course you may be inspired by the music itself, David Gilmour and his guitar can have that effect in my opinion.

I will most definitely comment on each and every poem entered into my contest, if I enjoy it enough then I will most likely take a look at other poetry written by the author in question as well =]

If you absolutely must enter a prewrite (I will prefer freshwrites, though a great prewrite has as much chance as any I suppose) then explain in the authors notes how it is fitting to the lyrics, or I will have to DQ it sorry (the first 3 entries do not count as they were added before I added this bit about the authors notes). If this is not abided by I will simply disallow further prewrites.

I am not in a position to offer points for any other trophy than gold, I only have 431 points, so the gold will take them all mostly.

~Rules~

- For some reason everyone seems to put, No WrItInG LiKe ThIs in their rules, but does anybody actually write like that? It annoyed me just to do for those 4 words lol So erm yeah anyway, no writing like that.

- No Erotica, because this is open to everybody. Tbh I am not sure how you would get Erotica out of the lyrics anyway lol

- Try to keep swearing to the absolute minimum, none at all is preferable.

- Most of all just enjoy =]
