Okay, this contest is for poems involving the history of a family, country or person, etc.
Who says that school subjects are boring. History is interesting, as we learn about peoples of the past. Your poem can be about anything. Any kind of topic in history. Put in your AN what history topic you are writing about.
This contest isn't just for those who are in school. Anybody can learn from a great person or country, anything in history books. or even in your own family history.
Please take the time to enter. I will learn from this contest too.
Here's an example of a history poem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cabeza de Vaca- Explorer
On an expedition to North America
Cabeza de Vaca came from Spain,
he left home for his travels in 1527
and on the way survived a hurricane.
The expedition landed him in Florida
where they fought upon the land,
the native Americans had attacked
and the fight was hard to withstand.
A raft carried the Spanish survivors
to an island along the Texas coast,
a lot of travelers were lost at sea
and now there were 80 men at most.
After a cold winter with little food
only 15 men survived along the way,
they walked west by the Colorado river
in 1533 the last survivors of their day.
Cabeza de vaca and the 3 other men
came upon indians and were enslaved,
they made it to southwestern North America
after the other tribes had them all saved.
Cabeza de Vaca was the first European
to see and describe the buffalo,
in his words many stories were written
about all the amazing places he'd go.
In 1536 they reached a spanish settlement
then to Mexico city they would head,
where Cabeza de Vaca served as governor
until 1537 he went back to Spain instead.
He wrote about his travels and the indians
and this encouraged expeditions the same,
in 1540 Cabeza de Vaca became governor
of a settlement that placed him with blame.
In 1545 he was put on trial for his offenses
and charged with bringing down the king,
not long after that Cabeza de Vaca died
leaving the stories that history would bring.

I've read/heard somewhere those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it. Since then, History, although sometimes boring, became a must-learn subject.
Bookmarked to see if I can write something good enough. -
History is NEVER boring. Some history teachers and authors of history texts are often boring... but never history itself!
