This contest will run until all 30 spots are filled.
I have found a set of unusual forms. All Celtic/Irish related. I want to see what you can do with them.
Please understand that your entrance in this contest constitutes a contract that you promise to complete each round that you are eligible to enter. Drop outs will be asked to not enter any of my future rounds contest unless you have a very good reason for not continuing.
Your mission should you choose to accept:
Choose a number, reserve your spot... then wait
I will give your prompt...DO NOT write anything yet.
Once all entries are filled I will give you the form you must write in.
Then you will have two weeks to write your poem.
UPDATE: I have developed a Rubric that I will be scoring each of your poems with, I am introducing it in this round and it will be used in all future rounds. Click here to view this rubric

Love is such a heady drink
I do not think we are meant
To imbibe and also touch
Desiring so much it's sweet scent.
Dreaming throughout each long day
To find a way to spend each night.
Thus our plans given by Fate
Ending with the mate that's right.

Road to infinity
Thanks for the help, this is so new to me. Where did I mess up on he second one?
-
-
Does this mean we can only write two stanzas [quatrains] or can we continue using the same "recipe"
thanks

Hello Peter
You can write up to four stanzas.
-

Okay, I have a question. I have received my prompt, I saw the form, and wrote my poem... but for some reason, it still has my reserve listed... even though when you click on it, it shows the actual poem.
Do I need to delete the reserve entry, then post a new one to get the title to show in the list? -
-
No
You don't I will check every entry, there is a caching problem with the contests where entries are not updated, but they are there.

To find a way to spend each night.
I have a constant struggle with syllable count, but isn't that 8 syllables ?
-
-
Yes it is
Look at it this way. Each word in that sentence is on syllable so break it down like this
to-find-a-way-to-spend-each-night=8
-
-
THe fourth line in your example has 8 syllables.
Does each line have to stick to strict 7 syllables? -
-
If you are refering to this line
"Desiring so much it's sweet scent."
I see where it is 8 syllables but according to the form it states a 7 syllable count. I tend to go by the form description, but will not penalize if you go to 8

Nice to see someone using the Garret for reference

I posted mine earlier, but on the page it still says reserved. I just wanted to let you know that it was done.

-
Okay
