Emptiness and Fulfillment

I have had a lot of thoughts and feelings on this matter recently, but I'd like some poetic/philosophical input from you...

RULE:
that you are in a loveless marriage, and contemplating having an affair...

Final Notes:

A lot of variety in topic, viewpoint, and style (the most difficult type of contest to judge!)... from self-therapy to lecture to soliloqey to slaps in the face, and from meter-rhyme to incoherent ramblings... I shall box them:

 The Box of Winners:

Gold: "Tacit" nicely written, speaks of cherished moments thrown away.

Silver: "Shaken Up" short, direct, knowing, and from a young writer it turns out.

Bronze: "Was Supposed to be Eden" a nice Biblical parable with a twist (and I've found a good use for parables lately).

The Personal Experience Box

"The Affair" intriquing situation and outcome.

"my emancipation proclamation" might as well proclaim it here!

"Decision" illustrates the "we" to "I" transition as a sign of trouble.

 The Young Writer's Box

"Be a Man" a good old slap in the face from a generation we considered lost.

"The question of zero in implicate to everything" cosmic and abstract, just like me when I was young.

The Soliloqey Box

ponderings; grab your skull and talk to it...

"On a Cool Summer Morn"

"Sitting Around Accepting Failure"

"The Struggle Within"

The One of a Kind's Box:

"Love brings fulfillment" brought a spiritual approach to the problem.

"Rippling the Reed in its Waiting" straight out of 10th Century Persia.

"Watching it" a nickel for anyone who can figure out the author's original message!

  • an enjoyable background, sincerely love it.

  • Ok, Just wanted to comment on contest..

First of all, I don't believe that you should seek advice in this manner. To be honest with you I think that you need to talk to your partner and tell them how you feel. They would appreciate that a lot more, and really if it is a loveless marriage, an affiar will only make things worse. You should just get a divorce if you don't think that this is fixable. Talk to them first. Trust me, it will all end a lot better if you take the honest route. Unless they are just the unreasonable type, then get a divorce. Not to be pushy or obtuse in any way. I know the consequences of staying in a relationship that does not work, nor will not work. You have to make this decision and remember this isn't just your life. You share each others lives, this is going to effect you both. Good luck with your problem, dilemma whatever it is you are struggling with and may you find your answer swiftly.

thank you much for your advice, but of course it is human nature NOT to take wise advice (and yours IS, in general) and my human nature is no different, though I do fight it...

This contest's value was unexpected, by the way- it has brought forth many different situations that, though completely different than my own, lend perspective... if I had been commenting as I've read, my situation would have revealed itself, but I didn't want everyone taking my side without offering general arguments (read 'philosophy') first...

and I promise I will reveal my particular situation when I judge, and my experiences with marriage, so as to arm those contemplating it, or who are in it, and are having problems dealing with it...

  • well u know i have a lot i could say in the matter.
