I am hungry for some really good, dark poetry. So...
your word prompt is:
totem
Do not use it in your title.
Make the poem dark - however:
No cutting, suicide, death or use of the word crimson.
I want a gothic, rich feel/tone.
Gothic - not emo, kiddies.

Bring these elements into the poem, mmkay?
Free verse preferred.
Please use plain backgrounds, left align, and spell-check.
And, take your time. I won't be closing early.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 15
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: I was hoping for some entries that really understood what I was seeking and the challenge was met. I had to add 2 HMs as I could not rightly leave them out.
So major shout outs to the top 3 but congrats to the top 5, and if you have not read them - do so.
Each shines in its own way and touched me - thank you so much for your time and effort.

Do you have any length requirements? Forms, free verse, prose? You've peaked my muse's attention.
I like your prompt.

Free verse is preferred but prose or form is perfectly ok! As I want a rich feel, I would think it should be a decent length but if you can do a gothic, rich feel in a short poem, thats fine too!

Just an amazing theme that awoke something in me...
And I can't give enough thanks! I really do see my poem
as a short story and hope to pick-up the thread and extend
it soon. I experienced bliss in creativity writing for you.
In appreciation, Blue
