Marriage

Give and take
Is marriage today such a big mistake?
I take-You take
And when we look down
There is no-
Cake

And all that is left
Is a bellyache
And are stomach quakes!

Now-we realize
What a tragic mistake
We make
In the wake
Of are happiness
Built on
 Take

Oh well
I'll fake
And every day
I'll wake and smile brightly
Yet slightly
As I look down upon my mistake

God I should have never ate that wedding cake!

    I think the reason why many marriages fail is because they spend over $10,000 on most weddings and end up finding themselves working for the next 10 years working off the dept of one day......

    makes marrying an imperfect person an even bigger regret than it was before..

      We are all imperfect----Yes the want of the perfect wedding. Not thinking much about all thoughs years left with just that one person-----

        blahh Jeans and t shirts will be worn at mine. the only 2 dressed up will be me and my hubby, and it's not going to be anything really fancy..haha with rock love songs from the 80s and 90s.
        My perfect wedding is simple and a lot less expensvive than most.

        But I'd also be happy with a simple courthouse wedding. its cheap, not $10,000 like most, and eaither way im still promising my life to the one I love.

    Marriage seems to me to be an attempt to make static an evolving situation. In times passed being married meant the difference between surviving and not. There were strong external forces holding marriages together that do not exist today.

    I was married for 28 years but it was a marriage that was made one day at a time until we both sort of lost interest.

      I do agree--

      with the first part of your comment. But then we should do away with vows such as (Death do us part)--They should not be said-- An agreement is simply that.-Words spoken or put on papper should not be held as meaningless!!!
