Michael Jackson died today
But his tunes are here to stay
Star of "Billy Jean" and "Thriller"
Has succumbed to silent killer.
At age fifty failed his heart
Heartbeats devoted to MJ's art
Each one pulsed to beats so strong
One accompanied every song
His passing mourned by endless fans
He did it best, like no one can
Moonwalked better than the moon
But sadly died much too soon
Constant ballads on radio
Why he passed, no one can know
Subject to controversies oft
From mouth to mouth, they held aloft
Do you regret it now, shunning him?
Acting merely on a whim?
Perhaps that is why he died
Because of glances cruel and comments snide
Though Michael Jackson died today
His work and art, none shall slay
The 25th of June, now, he is gone
But the "King of Pop" can still live on.
-Julia Bandura, June 25th, 2009
I want you to write a poem like this one. Celebrating MJ's life, his accomplishments, his pride.
~RULES~
1. Mild swearing is allowed; please, no heavy stuff, or I will have to disqualify you
2. No making fun of him; you will be dq'd
3. Please enter your name (SPACED OUT!) in your AN; in my last contest, the same person won both bronze and silver, so I do not want that to happen again
4. No erotica...how would that fit?
5. Keep it PG-13 and no adult labels; I want to be able to judge my own contest.
6. Obviously, no pre-writes.
7. I would love if my favourites entered, but you don't HAVE TO.
8. Forgive me if I judge late.
9. Do not copy my poem into yours; I will be forced to dq you.
Thanks! Have fun!

Me and mum talked on the phone for 45 minutes about him. She went to a concert of his years ago with dad.
We were all really sad this morning. -

R.I.P. MJ.
I'll try and see if I can come up with something. Good idea for a concert. It's so sad that someone so talented left so soon. -
-

I think.
I think his song Ben was very prophetic of his life and there were others. One that played as a theme to Inside Edition, always ran through my mind. What a week this was. -
Wow that's an amazing poem. I couldn't stop crying when I found out, thanks for hosting this competition.

Thanks for starting this wonderful contest. I've found myself profoundly heartbroken over his death - I grew up absolutely consumed by his music, and I literally would not be the same person without it. I hope he has found peace.
