Topics to write about:
war, soldiers, enemies, or about the families of soldiers, etc.
a hero.
a difficult period in your life, how you managed to get through.
losing a friend. No, losing doesn't only mean dying.
I tend to like emotional poems.I want to feel sad or inspiredhopeful from your poem. Don't get carried away with analogies and metaphors. They can be lovely, but I like to understand what I'm reading
It doesn't have to rhyme, kids.
Rules:
No Slang/Chat lingo. If you have "u" in your entry "U" will be eliminated.
No Children's, Erotica, Fantasy, Haiku, Religious, or suicidal entries.
Please do not give me really ancient prewritten poems, from before 2007.
Swearing is okay. Abuse the shift key if that's your style.
Don't bother writing anything specially for me in your AN.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 27
- Rewards: Gold: 450, Silver: 250, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Thank you for submitting your wonderful poems into this contest
The trophies go to astonishing poems that I suggest you read
3 Honorable Mentions earned well deserved points with their fantastic poems.
Ironically, 5 of the 6 best poems were about war. Many of the entries submitted about losing a friend were about a friend dying. I was kind of disappointed with this.
On a different light, I have always been irritated when hosts of contests don't spend a long time reading and commenting. I have never hosted a contest in 24 hours time before, but since most of the entries were prewrites, the contest filled within hours, and I had nothing to do today It's important that you know that I didn't just sit here for an hour, trying to get this contest over with. I spent many hours reading and rereading and commenting. I am sad that it is over, because I need like 1000 more points before I host another contest for my dear friends
*I always encourage you to read the winning poems Even if you are a shiny trophy winner yourself
Well done, and thank you!
