  • I thought you was joking when you said he was dead........
damn I spend to much time on this site.

    • no he died today I wouldn't joke about that...
Hope you will write for this.

      • might do, am a bit in shock. Don't know why was not really a big fan but still........ He was supposed to be doing a 50 show tour down our way this year....anyway, don't spose that matters now.

        • Well he was the king of Pop and a Popular American Icon...I was shocked too, but as soon as they said he wasn't breathing and was at the hospital I thought he would be dead. Esp. after the coma prognosis. It's surreal, but true and quite sad. He was very creative even if I didn't like some of the skeletons in his closet I think everyone can agree the man was creative.

          • Just so you know, I clicked on your youtube link and apparently its been banned in the UK due to copyright restrictions. So you may have to tell us which one it is. and yes I agree the man was very creative and talented.

            • Oh it was Billie Jean. Sorry I forget about other country restrictions.
^^;; I will do so immediately thank you for telling me, but you can pick any song of his you want!

What you said, is so true...I am, and am not shocked about his passing...but I have posted on my facebook..my take....

The End of a tragic life...he was an enigmatic ICON....another no less sad than Elvis. But different in this is a loss of unimaginable Magnitude. He never became a man, 50 yoa..yes...emotionally NOT EVEN...but without a doubt one of the GREATEST GENIOUSE'S of all time....Another tour at his age would have left a legacy less than his own death. He will live on in the hearts and minds of the artistic and entertainment world
    forever.
P.S. I new that there would be something on here right away since this happened today..have already been thinking of writing something, but I figure there will be SO many....so I don't know...but I may take this up.....huggs to all during this time of sadness for those whom loved Michael Jackson

    • yeah I thought there would be a bunch too.
But I didn't see any so I decided to post. I would be HONORED if you would enter in mine, but I do understand that there will most likely be more.

hmmm weird u got the michael jackson memorial contest, but what about the farrah fawcett or the ed macmahon contests, don't see those on allpoetry....they were all contest worthy and they're just forgotten in the void of time....such a disgrace.

    • no you make an excellent point. You are right, but I already have many contests running.
      But still no excuse!

    • It happens like that, remember when Mother Teresa died. That went unoticed under the light of what happened to Princess Diana. The media has such a big influence on our minds. For wrong or for right.

    • I don't see how that matters. The contest holder doesn't have to be moved by every celebrity death that occurs. Where's one for Billy Mays? The actress from Star Trek? If you want to see that contest, make one yourself. Yes, they were great people, but it's harder to write about how pretty someone was rather than how someones music influenced you to become a writer, etc.

  • i got a michael poem but i have already written it : /
id be so grateful if u could allow me to enter it
    thanks for your time

  • I had written a poem for Michael Jackson, can you please reopen this contest so I can enter...Thank you!

I have a pulse to share from, 'shake your body down to the ground,' but have an obstacle.

Many have become so accustomed to the phrase, as used here, "passed away," it might not be know it's a euphemism, a used case a dictionary . com .

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/euphemism

The point of this is not to barge into your contest, but see your opinion, considering you already used the conservative term of, 'she died,' for Farrah Fawcett, so I was wondering if you wouldn't mind making it more temperate here too.

I'll wait for your reply, my ability to enter,

I'm sorry I'm just really busy. so I never got to reply to anyone on this. I say passed away and I say died I say both, but I don't have a preference nor do I see either one as insulting. I use both so like I said I had no idea there was a problem with either or. I just made the contests at different times...o.o there's really no rhyme or reason for it. Just typed it up for their tribute.

Still can't believe his gone. But it was nice to finally see people respect him for his music. Before people would always mock me for listening to his music but when he died everyone realized the he really was the king of pop.
