Do as the contest says and write me a color. Pick a color and describe it in the most wonderous, glorious, fascinating, interesting, exotic, erotic, creepy, melancholy way you can. Well, you don't have to describe it in all those ways. All I'm saying is I want you to write me a poem about a color without telling me what that color is in your poem. You can try to make me feel the color through your words more with a pic or a proper background, whatever you see fit. Any color you choose. Just make me love it.
If you need an example to look at see my poem "Sweetest Hues" http://allpoetry.com/poem/250550
You don't have to comment, it won't effect my judging in the contest. You don't even have to look at the poem just use it for reference if you don't get one I mean.
Rules:
1. Do NOT use the actual color in the poem
Edit: You may use synonyms of the color you are writing about (i.e. "crimson" if your poem is about the color red, "emerald" for green, as long as the poem is not actually about "crimson" or "green".) Make sense? Wacky I know... I'm kinda lenient on things most of the time. Let me know if I confused you!
2. Tell me what color you wrote about in your author notes... just in case I can't figure it out... If you don't I will remind you, but if you don't add it that will be a DQ
3. NO STICKY CAPS OF ANY KIND... I WILL DQ for that
4. Use apostrophies where apostrophies are supposed to be used(i.e. do not type ill for the contraction I'll)
5. Capitalize words that should be (see rule 4 example)
6. No numbers for words (like 4ever)
7. Use proper spelling and grammar the best you can (do not write wuz for was). If I notice anything wrong with this in your poem I will let you know in my comment and give you a chance to fix it. If it is not fixed by deadline I will DQ you.
8. If you have a pre-write about a color already, by some wild chance, I am allowing pre-writes... just remember don't name the color in the poem
9. If you can write the poem about RED (the most horrible color in the world) and make me like it and you win I will comment on 5 of your poems as a bonus
10. HAVE AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF FUN!!!!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 26
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: First off; Thank you everyone for entering! I didn't expect so many entries! You all made this a very difficult contest to judge! Every poem was penned exquisetly, each color chosen was written about wonderfully and uniquely. I absolutely enjoyed every poem and thought each one was terrific in their own way! But, I had to choose an order. I even increased the number of honorable mentions I'm handing out to the max I can. If I could everyone who entered would at least receive an honorable mention! You are all outstanding poets and have my deepest respects. Congratulations to the winners!!!

i have color poems I have written in the past, but not all are one this site. The only time the color is mentioned is in the ending which is the same as the title. but I'll still see what I can come up with. But if you would like to check one of my color poems out anyways, I would suggest going to my page and reading Orange is for Depression. Hope you get some great entries.
