puking faerie dust, aka jeanette, is one of my good friends and she'll be 17 on the 23rd of june. did i mention that she's awesome? thus, a birthday contest.
you have two options [well, three if you want to be technical]:
one: write a poem for/about jeanette. no rhyme, no emo whining, nothing mean. it's her birthday so don't piss her off.
two: write a poem based on one of the two following rilke poems (jeanette and i both have a mad love for rilke). again, no emo, no rhyme, no typing like a gorilla on crack.
"autumn day":
Lord: it is time. The summer was immense.
Lay your shadow on the sundials
and let loose the wind in the fields.
Bid the last fruits to be full;
give them another two more southerly days,
press them to ripeness, and chase
the last sweetness into the heavy wine.
Whoever has no house now will not build one anymore.
Whoever is alone now will remain so for a long time,
will stay up, read, write long letters,
and wander the avenues, up and down,
restlessly, while the leaves are blowing.
from "pietà":
Those limbs, from every lover so withholding,
for the first time in this love-night I view.
We’ve never felt each other’s arms enfolding,
and now I only weep and watch for you.
But, look, how torn your hands have come to be—
not from my bites, beloved, not by me.
Your heart stands open now for all to share:
I only should have had the entry there.
happy birthday, shlovekins!
loveee,
senorita christie awshomeness

only seventeen? goodness gracious.
I feel old now...
-
-
lol me too. i'm 19. i'm in my final year of uni. i'm ancient. XD
-
-
how are you in college when you're only 19?
I want to live where you live. xD -
-
no, don't live in new york! it is evil! but wales is nice. but nah, i started uni when i was 17 cos i was born in september, began uni-level classes at 15, and overload on units each term. if i started my education in the uk, i'd be a year behind cos i was born like a week after the cutoff date

are you going this year? -
-
that was one very confusing explanation. o.o
I just graduated high school this year. I'm going to college - as we say around these parts
- in the fall.
-
-
ah sorry, i can never keep american and british english terms separate! but yay, congrats on going to uni/college/whatever it is! what're you going to study?
-
-
I just reread your explanation and it made sense.
right now, my major is communication arts. don't know if it'll stay that way, but right now it is. wanted to write books or something but Mum said it isn't practical.
-
-
that's what my parents said too. at least communication arts will get you a job, no? you can write books without living in a box, haha. my parents were all for me becoming a teacher, then i realised that i hate kids and that if i had to teach diluted versions of shakespeare plays in simple english to rude, snooty kids with texting plans and no manners... well, it'd be horrible. so i changed my course to creative writing anyways.

but if you do decide to write books, i plan to have a shack in siberia where i'll write mine. if you bring some vodka you can visit.
-
-
so that's why you're so impressive. you're smart AND you've had proper training.
can't blame me for being bad then. xD
oh, I would still love to write books, even with the looming communication arts majors. and haha, I would also love you visit you.
-
-
shush, you're not bad AT ALL. i love your work and so do 3482394879 other people on here. and your poems are good enough to go on buses! and you'll pwn everyone at x factor. so shush.

and bollocks, i've had no training other than what i pick up from old dead people in yellowed books. in school i've always stared out the window and i have a habit of going to class drunk so i don't have to remember the bullshit later. model student my ass
cool. let's go to iran and rob old ladies. -
-
well then. nevermind. you're just plain gifted then. :]
then swing ourselves into boxcars and scare any hobos sitting there by spontaneously bursting into song... in Spanish?
-
-
yesss! but maybe we should sing in an obscure language like breton or something to confuse the hobos enough to stun them, so we can steal their iranian coins?
-
-
I only said Spanish because that's the only foreign language I know. want to teach me Breton?
-
-
i don't know breton. i could teach you some useless welsh... like how to say "cat piss" XD
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
if you're ancient, then i'm a relic! almost 23 years old... shudder!
-
-
-
lord, i must write something for this amazing child.
-
-
yess, we'd both love it! =]
-
-
hm, can I write a poetic letter?
-
-
yesss
-
-
*ewok noise*mmmokay.

a more appropriate emoticon:

-
-
Yes, yes!
