As poets we have all been inspired by other poets.
For this contest please write a poem inspired by...

Edgar Allen Poe
(January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849)
OR
Lord George Gordon Bryon
(January 22, 1788 – April 19, 1824)

For this contest pick ONE of the above poets and...
Option #1
Write a poem inspired by the man himself (his life etc).

Option #2
Choose one of his works (writings) and then
write a poem of your own
inspired by his work.
What does it make you think, feel or remember?

Option #3
Re-Write one of his works
in your own style and words.
(You must use your own words, you cannot use theirs)
The Dreaded Rules (LOL):
1) Place the title of any of the work that inspired you
in your AUTHOR'S NOTES. Do NOT post in in the poem body.
2) Do not use ANY lines from written by your chosen poet in your poem.
If a quote from his work inspires you, place it in your AUTHOR's Notes only.
3) Do NOT use the title of his work as your own title.

The object is to be inspired by him and his works/words,
not to use them as your own.
I want to feel your passion for his works.
You may enter up to 4 times with different prompts.
If you have a prewrite about him you may use it.
Any prewrite not related to the contest will be removed.
All entries will be commented on by final judging but maybe not before.
So please do not think you've been forgotten. You will get a comment.
Good luck and have fun!
.

well... maybe... he kinda took several of Poe's pieces and incorporated them in a really good poem... He may have used the words... Maybe I will just have him link you the poem... it's really good.

Kudos to you ...
for a great idea for a contest.

Technical question...
I love the idea of this contest... and I have a question. I have a poem that was inspired and written in what I consider Poe's style of writing. I wasn't inspired by any particular work of Poe... but by all of them, his unique writing style. May I enter it? -
-
Sure. I have no problem with that. Just note that you were inspired by that int he author's notes. I have no problem with that.
-
-
I adore Poe!! He's my hero... There's a paragraph on my profile page dedicated to him. I have a prewerite inspired by him, but I'll try to come up with a new write as well. Good luck with the contest!

Thank you
It is a great honour to have placed first in your contest. Thank you for deeming my work worthy of gold.
