In the United States June 21st will be celebrated as Fathers Day
The theme of this contest is Fathers & Grandfathers, good, bad or indifferent. I prefer positive but you should write your heart. Write a poem about your Father or Grandfather.
You can use any form you wish including free verse and prose poems. Please do not make the poems too long or too short.
Tell about a special time you shared or a special rememberance. If you write poems about a bad father or Grandfather please do not get too graphic. Try to keep your write for a general audience.
This Contest is for Poetic Bandits members only. Only one entry per writer.
No pre-writes please.
Have fun!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 20
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 250, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: My Bandit Family has never failed to impress me with thier range of poetic expressiveness. Every poem in this contest is worthy of recognition for each brings forth aspects of the relationships that we experience with our Fathers and Grandfathers. I read of sacrifice and tender care, abuse and forgiveness, I was really touched by these poems.
I based my picks on Poetic expression, relateable themes and how each one made me think, see and feel. I wish I could give you all trophies but accept my personal thanks to all that took the time to participate in this contest, I applaude you all.
Thank you for helping to make this Fathers Day extra special.
The Honorable Mentions are in no particular order, all were equally grand!
Poetic Bandit Rock!
