Write Deep and Chew Gum at Same Time

here's some blank space to think about it...

FINAL NOTES:

Thanks to all for entering…

Did I know how I was going to judge this contest when I began? No, I only had the foggiest of notions. Did I know how I was going to judge this contest after I read the first piece? Yes, that is when it formulated...

This contest was about thinking deep, while chewing gum. Was the gum-chewing representative of something else? Yes- Studying the deep through lightness.

The method that I arrived at was this: how well your piece engaged me.

So, how did I measure your engagement? Simple and mathematical- the character count of my comment, and not just any old comment, but an ‘engaging’ comment. I chose character count over word count to allow for your inspiring large and wondrous words from me.

Note that the numbers do not reflect my liking/disliking your work, you can see by my comments that I enjoyed them all, down to the last one. The numbers reflect the ‘engagement’, which is what deep is about.

and know- you were all safely anonymous right up until I hit the 'judge' button...

So, for the mathematical results

(character count of engaged comment):

  • I think I'll pass on this one. I never could chew gum and pat my tummy at the same time.
