Under The Influence [Could Be Quick]

If you're good kiddies and do as you're told, it'll be done by tomorrow!

Starter: Points will go up. Up to 16 poets. Will comment. You have choices.

Your Options:
. Write about how it feels to be drunk (You can imagine this, yes.)
. Write a poem while drunk (Just if you happen to be drunk right now!)
. Write about being/recovering from being an alcoholic
. Write about having to deal with someone else being an alcoholic
. Write about your favourite alcohol, and why.

You heard me. I made a contest about alcohol. I'm not promoting or demoting, drinking, don't get me wrong, I just think it's an interesting topic.

Your Rules:
. No more than 27 lines. Yep, 27.
. Don't bad-mouth other poets or their work.
. I accept all categories. Write whatever you feel. Be free.
. Humour, serious, prose, rhyme, anything you like.
. Make sure anything is finished by tomorrow evening.
. Prompt in AN, please.

That's it! I'm done ranting. Go slur me some poetry.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 29
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 60, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 3 people
  • Final notes:
I can assure you that I enjoyed reading every single entry to this contest. In my eyes, you're all winners, and I hope you continue writing beautiful work.

Gold - This one just made me laugh. It was a wonderfully thought out piece with a rather odd twist of romance and humour.

Silver - This was the perfect drunken poem. It was a humorous reflection on modern day society, as well as giving me just what I wanted.

Bronze - This one was long, but it was easy to relate to, and contained some very blunt humour, as well as having a kind of sad moral.

HM's were in no particular order:

1 - This piece was beautiful, and certainly true to it's title. It gave me a good look at the alternative, darker side of alcohol.

2 - This piece made me giggle too. A wonderful poet, with some wonderful morals. The piece was both dark and funny!

3 - The last piece was written in just the kind of writing style I adoore. It used an extended metaphor to describe something sweet, sad, and heartwarming.

    Thank you to everyone,
And I certainly hope you'll join me next time! x
