phrase/title prompts:
printed on the moon
tea-time sky
taste the wind
god-watching
in the mouth of december [or any month you like]
in the flesh
freehand
where sleepers pass
and eden ran
I felt heaven with my feet
the moon makes its own plea
it might be painted on a nursery wall
when the moon was blood
make a note of this
and the moon said
finger-pointing
every soul a star
in his humanity, he wept [or: in her humanity, she wept]
strawberry-picking [or whatever fruity thing you like. could be blackberries, cherries, apples, whatever]
as you can probably guess, I like the moon.
write a letter to one of the following [free verse or prose]:
your younger self
a star
a stranger
the moon
the seasons [or a season]
a month
love. [I'm taking a risk with this one. not A love. not YOUR love. just love. please, spare me the cliched crap.]
be inspired by some quotes. credit the creator.
'the night walked down the sky with the moon in her hand.'
- frederic lawrence knowles
'"in our world," said Eustace,
"a star is a huge ball of flaming gas."
"even in your world, my son,
that is not what a star is,
but only what it is made of."'
- c.s. lewis
'there is no planet, sun, or star can hold you, if you but knew what you are.'
- ralph waldo emerson
'three things cannot be long hidden; the sun, the moon, and the truth.'
- buddha
be inspired by this poem:
who are you, little i
(five or six years old)
peering from some high
window;at the gold
of November sunset
(and feeling:that if day
has to become night
this is a beautiful way)
- by e. e. cummings
most likely I'll add more prompts later.
get penning!
or typing.
whatever.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 31
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 300, Bronze: 100
- Final notes: Thanks to all for your entries. I was pleased with the end result. The honorable mentions are in no particular order, but I'd like to say that I wish I could have given the poem 'taste wind in the flesh - to my former self' something better than an honorable mention, but refrained from giving the poet gold/silver/bronze due to punctuation errors. Sorry, I'm a punctuation freak. And grammar freak. And poet freak.
Thanks again!
