SOS! Please HELP!!
We are looking for a topic or an idea that inspires
with a fitting illustration to set off and light our fires.
To write a piece of poetry my Muse and I are set
but, the trouble is, we can’t think what to write about just yet!
Your idea can either cause a tear or raise a happy smile
for my Muse and I, in this respect, are very versatile.
It may be quite modernistic, medieval or antique;
We have run out of ideas ourselves and so, your help we seek.
To whoever sends the pictures and ideas we think are best,
we will give the usual three awards plus points, but we suggest
they HAVE to be original, not corny or cliché
but something that quite differs from the stuff we read each day.
Thankyou for your help. Hugh Wyles.
We have run out of ideas to write about (a common form of ‘writer’s block’) and we ask you to send us one good, inspiring idea for a poem together with an accompanying picture.
You do not have to write the poem yourself; that’s what we want to do – just send your idea and picture.
1st will get GOLD and 600 points; 2nd SILVER and 300 points; 3rd BRONZE and 100 points.
Closes for judging 27th. May.
Only one idea per entrant. No poems or prewrites.
Open to everybody – no other rules.
PLEASE SIGN YOUR ID BELOW YOUR ENTRY. Thankyou.

Our sincere thanks to all who entered this contest and provided helpful and inspiring ideas for future verse.
Congratulations to the five award winners whose pictures and ideas inspired the most immediate poems and who were therefor judged the winners. The poems they inspired will be posted over the next five days. We make no apology if our inspirations took different paths from your expectations or (in two cases) for providing alternative pictures to the ones you supplied.
To the remaining six entrants we are also very grateful. Most of your ideas we shall archive for future use when appropriate and we will IM you or email links to whatever poems result.
With love and our sincere gratitude to all for your much appreciated help and thanks to Angelica for helping us with judging.
Hugh Wyles and Muse.
