Honor Suu Kyi, Write for Peace

The trial of Nobel Peace Prize winner Suu Kyi just got started amid controversy...if you are unaware of what's going on in Burma...ethnic cleansing, political prisoners, 70,000 child soldiers...please google and check US Campaign for Burma...

Here are your options, please note option in a/n...

1. write a poem to or for Suu Kyi and the cause of freedom and peace

2. write a poem to incite people to get involved in the situation in Burma

3. write a poem to call people to action in their communities or for individual action in world affairs to bring about peace

4. write a poem about how to bring about peace in a specific conflict region and please state in your notes what region even if evident in your poem

allowing pre-writes but definitely look very favorably in judging on originals; no poems to incite violence...put your activism into poetic form! excited to see entries. may add more points and honorable mentions if getting good entries.

  • Final notes:
Wow was this a hard contest to judge...few entries but outstanding quality and would liked to have tied several for gold but alas that's not the way it works. Sorry for delay in judging. THANKS so much for entering especially those who wrote originals! Really, should have had a tie for gold among the 5 winners. Sorry to the one left out of trophies, limited points and was pre-write, but lovely poem nonetheless. Please google Campaign for Burma and get involved if not already! Peace & Agape all. Thanks again.
