I want poetry that parrots
facets of an ideal man:
yields to measured stroke,
coaxed solid; throbs with
suggestion like war drums;
comes
alive in my mouth
then lingers.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 4
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 330, Honorable mention: 1 people
- Final notes: This contest had the highest standard of poetry of any contest I’ve held and, as such, it was a challenge to judge! My finalist list was getting swapped around like a swingers party gone mad! I contemplated only having a gold trophy because I could not bear separating the remainder of the entries, but decided it was only fair to add silver and bronze as well given the quality of them. I wanted to give far too many HM’s also, but was strict with myself and only allowed one in the end!
It was tiny, nit-picky things that determined the winners – things like length, adherence to rules, metaphor and word choice.
Thank you all so much for the fantastic entries!

Certainly not expected... not with Macey's poem up there. I thought she had it in the bag for sure. Thank you so much. Gives me a little more confidence to try the soft approach more often
Congrats to the other winners. The pieces here were all good.

Congrats to the winners and thank you for hosting, but most of all for the inspiration, Allyce... I wanted to write that poem for a long time now, you know...
