Make me Feel something Real

My brains aren't working well right now, and I don't know how long that will last. I am not only having difficulty providing critiques for others' works (which I enjoy immensely), I am also challenged to comprehend others' constructive comments to me.

I am feeling uncertain, insecure, anxious due to this turn of events. This has happened many times before, and always I have come out of it sooner or later. Yet there are never any guarantees.

So, understanding that I will not be able to provide critical commentary on your pieces, I instead ask for your help: Make me FEEL something REAL.

FYI: If you enter some bs just because I'm allowing pre-writes, I am liable to DQ it. I don't mean to be rude, just stating facts.

I may extend the deadline a bit if I need more entries.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks to the generous gift of 1000 points by longte, which enabled me to run this contest.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on April 11
  • Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 300, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
Thank you all for your entries in this contest. There were MANY more excellent writes that awards available. Please consider reading some of the other works if you haven't already done so.

For the judging of this contest, I ordered entries based on the writes to which I had the strongest emotional response. All of the finalists made me cry, and in some cases sob repeatedly. I had/have been having difficulty with trying to block out my painful emotions, and what I needed was poems that could reach in through my boundaries, pierce the wound, and allow catharsis to occur.

There were several very humorous entries, and many lovely and touching ones. One or two even triggered angry for me. Yet, in spite of the quality of some of those writes, I found the lighter emotions insufficient to my current need, and anger just made emotional access that much more difficult for me.

Thank you all for your responses to my request for assistance. I expect I'll be reading several of these pieces again, and at least one has already made it onto my personal "best of the best" list.

My best wishes in all your endeavors on AllPoetry.
