Freedom Rounds

I've been waiting for a while to decide what type of contest I would like to do. I have right now 4515 points, and while I considered the idea of putting all of those into one contest and getting a large amount of points as the Gold- I didn't have an idea that I felt was worthy of all my hard earned points. So I'm going to do a rounds contest- depending on how many good entries I get, somewhere between 5- 10 will move on. The number will increase depending on how many entries I get.

I will comment on every poem- I'd prefer new writes but prewrites are ok. Message me though about the prewrite first- and tell me how it really fits the prompt or picture really well so I know you did put thought into entering in my contest.

I want a lot of entries- the preliminary finalists will move on- along with the gold winner. The rounds will change each time and you might have to write prose, or a style you don't normally because I want to challenge you and see what your adaptability is.
There are two ways I will decide whether you are a finalist , and you can choose which one you want me to use to judge your poem. A rubric, or just personal opinion- and if there is a tie between poems , the personal opinion score and my thoughts on a poem will be the determining factor.
If you want to see how my mind works, then look at my page and see what I write, and what styles I like.

The Rubric will be this: out of 100

title /5
relation to prompt /8
spelling\grammar /5
personal oppinion /20
rythmn /12
imagery /20
emotion /10
Diction /10
Originality /10

Rules-
1) Spelling and grammar - you won't place in Prelims if there are a lot of spelling and grammer issues
2) Put your option or picture in your AN- if you don't you won't move up to prelims- and I will message you twice, and comment until you do- but if you still haven't after that I won't consider you for Prelims.
3)Show Not Tell
4) For now no line limit- but if I can't get through it all the way then you won't place in Prelims.
5) Ask before entering PWs

And I'd love for my favorites to enter this
Especially- Aanika, Angela, and Candy Morphine and Color Me Silent

Just btw- I have actually almost 8000 points right now- the individual rounds are going to start with just 400 and prelims, but as it gets closer to end, there will be a lot of points.
The final will probably be like 3000 points for gold or something like that.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on June 22
  • Rewards: Gold: 400
  • Final notes:
I'm not doing gold silver etc, just gold. If you are a finalist you move on, Innocence Jaded and I will be judging the future rounds, and I may ask some others to help if they want. The next round most likely, you will be assigned three or four questions off myspace quizzes or so, and you will have to answer them poetically. It will be up in the next couple days, though not today.

I was dissapointed ,many of you didn't follow the rules, and didn't really give me emotion, or imagery. My comments were the same for many of you, you have good ideas and potential but you have to put effort and create that imagery and other world for your reader otherwise its just boring. Also if you can't rhyme really well, don't, start with free verse, if it doesn't come it doesn't.
Many of you should keep writing and keep trying, enter my future contests, I want to see your progress, but my finalist all blew me away or I saw potential in their piece and want to see how they develop.

question: i have another poem for this contest that started off with the prompt sanguine [love that word!] and ended up not really being about sanguine at all, more about contrasts -- because sanguine intrigues me as it means both cheerful and bloody... would it be all right if I entered that? since it only has a tangential relationship to the actual prompt...

i saw the 'multiple entries' thing and decided to enter again.
    is that a crime?

i really don't want to abuse the prewrite button.
i want to submit a new write. honest, i do.
it's just that my muse is drowning,
and all i can write is the water-blocked gargles it's coughing up.

    maybe i will tonight. (:
