Just what it says on the tin. My lovely co-host (emmyb) had the idea for a contest, and here it is. Red post boxes, black taxis, big ben, the queen vic, summer in Hyde Park, winter snow stoppers (you londoners know what im talking about), £8 a glass wine, business suits, underground delays with sweaty armpits, G20, trying to get to work without crying, annoying american tourists!, all tourists in fact, a shopping trip on oxford street, celebrity spotting, dining in piccadilly, an all star premier at leister square, a night out at Les Miserable, on-the-go-morning-coffee, the tower of london, Londons history, the royal family, london zoo, hethrow airport for all its faults, whatever you want!!!
Whether youve lived here your whole life, or whether you WANT to come here, or perhaps youve just been here for a holiday ... please write about it. it'll be interesting to see the different perspectives.
The best poem will win... obviously.
two honourable mentions because I can never decide.

Hehe. Good stuff, can't wait to see your entry.

If you change your mind, and decide to admit "previously written" poems, please let me know. I do not feel it appropriate to enter competitions that exclude such material - even if I have in my files something appropriate which has not yet appeared on the Allpoetry site, and hence would - according to the rules of the site - count as "New".
-
Well, the song 'next plane to London' is running through my head right now - unfortunately, that's all that's running through my head right now!

lol
hope you get a HUGE turn-out for this
-
-
Hehehe, thanks, aboomer!

-
Fuck me, could do with some more entries.

I guess mine isn't what you are looking for
so I will remove it. I hope you get a lot that are.
-
-
Let's get this straight. You have removed your poem from our contest because we haven't commented yet? I've read yours and was going to comment tonight, Emmy is away for a couple of days.

Wey hey!
Many thanks for singing along to 'London's Burning' and giving it a SIlver trophy!
Had great fun writing this ~ such a more upbeat idea than my original entry was.
Cheers!
