whew! this contest was very difficult to judge. Everyone really outdid my expectations. The one that stood out for the gold, however, was clear from the very beginning; and that is "Saving Grace." The silver went to "For Her Own A-muse-ment," which was very clever. Finally, ~ same difference and the art of being human ~ - won the bronze. The others were amazing too, such as Ap's Secret Garden. I just loved the anology of the sun and the moon sharing the same sky together here at Allpoetry. And the rest; well, they all know what I like about their poems from my comments on them. I wanted to give more honorable mention trophies, but unfortunately the system no longer allows this. The poems in the finalist list are in no particular order after the trophies. Thank you everyone for your participation and your wonderful entries! I was very moved.
Sponsored by PWD Group. All are Welcome to participate.
You do not need to be a member; but you are welcome to become one.
Thank you tawk (Theresa) for your generous donation of points!
It's Spring! Wake up you sleepy heads...And what better way to do this than with a contest! What I want you to do, if you feel inspired, is to write a poem about how you felt when you first joined Allpoetry and/or PWD group. For example; How did you find Allpoetry? How were you welcomed? Was there anyone in particular who made you feel special, loved and needed? If so, you may choose to write a tribute about that person.
Or, maybe you were even made to feel badly somehow. You are welcome to write about that also. I seek truth and honesty here! I want everyone to feel comfortable and connected to what they are writing about. This is when the best writing is produced.
If the above doesn't get the creative juices flowing; how about simply writing a poem about nature and/or animals/pets? I love backgrounds and tags/photos too; so it would be an extra plus if you added that to your write. Please be sure to credit the source of your graphics or state if it is your own.
As always I expect all writes and graphics to be respectful and tasteful. I don't mind dark, but not too morbid. Sensual is fine, but not erotic. Religious, philosophical and political is good; as long as everyone respects each other's feelings and beliefs.
Absolutely no bashing of any kind here. If anyone wants to make a strong point, try out how diplomatically and eloquently it can be made in an essay or poem. This contest is for all ages. It is being sponsored by PWD group and is open to all of Allpoetry . Good luck everyone; and I look forward to your entries!
Of course we are always accepting new members to our group and friends of our group are welcome to become members as well!

wow, I would love to write for this-

I found AP inadvertently during the big shake-up of 2006. Had all my poems stored here for a year without knowing it - was posting them to OP which I'd found when I was looking for a picture of Elizabeth Smart. -

great!
I hope to see your entry. Looking forward to it.

I will be back.
I will be back to this. -

Hi
I just wanted to add, in conjunction with my poems, that I joined AP because of those very reasons... that im strugglling so so much with recovery and controling my thoughts. During the time ive had my eating disorder and dealt with other various things, i've turned to the internet to search for poetry that could relate to how i felt. I have to admit that reading things that i conected to so well, sometimes made me upset but also gave me the inspiration to start writing myself, just as a release... and it works for me!!! I joined initially because i read someone else's poem on AP, which i found through google, and i was so so touched by it that i simply had to comment... 'Endless Cycle' was my first poem about my ED and also the first poem i submitted onto AP.
xxx Thanks for reading =) -

thank you for the background info!
i understand ... in fact, i figured as much. it was the same for me for other reasons; although i did have a severe eating disorder when i was younger. when i joined allpoetry i was profoundly depressed for various reasons.

thanks - Debilynn did the background
i really like it because it is so light and carefree... perfect for spring and summer. even fall. i look forward to your entry in the contest. hope you come up with something; even if it is just a freewrite through the process of association and random thoughts related to how you joined allpoetry.

That's okay sis...
it can't be forced unless you are ready and it flows naturally...

I just entered this and then began to read some of the entrants. Most do not seem to adhere to the instructions~ how we found AP and why we joined... or did I read this wrong? so frustrating...

Hi Deb...
I gave a lot of options and leeway here. As you see; the ones that adhered most to the goal of this contest made it to the Preliminary Finalists list on top. Take a look at those.

And the winner/s is?
