so what happens when you remove a poem?
    can i re-enter? haha

  • I know there are no hard fast rules on contests and how they should be run BUT respect for poets who work hard and enter them should be shown. This I do not feel can be done in a matter of 25 minutes per 20 entries commented on, all with common thread of 'not right for you', and then delete the majority. Do not ask for 'anything and everything' if you are being selective in content entered that may make you happy.

To host such is a responsibility to others as well as a growing platform for yourself.

    God Bless
    Recluse

  • I agree totally with Recluse...

I have clicked on and bookmarked all of the three contests you have posted.
It seems to me that you just click the "remove from contest" without even considering how much effort the poets have put in to it.
In my opinion it is rude and the fact that you are obviously just useing the "Quick Comment" option, to me proves your are'nt even giving anyone a chance.
As I said...Recluse is right. I WON'T be entering ANY of your contests. I'm sure that won't bother you, but if you keep doing this you are gonna have a LOT of ANGRY poets complaining.
    They deserve better. Take care

    I agree with Recluse

if you claim you want everything and anything
entered, then be at least understanding that poets have worked
hard on their writes and to be deleted because
it "wasn't what you wanted" is completely obtuse
    and no offense, ignorant.

Anyways, not like you care what I say,
but I am the 3rd person to let you know
how you judge contests isn't fair.

I hope some sense kicks in you
and you realize it's your duty as
a judge to try to comment all
entries and respect the fact that
all writers are different and deserve
to have their chance at entering
even if they don't win a trophy.

    Peace

  • Now that I know you just used the "quick comment" and used the SAME COMMENT for every single poem, I know my talent has been a waste in this contest, and IMHO you should be ashamed of yourself. Only picking a select few and deleting all the rest. I will make sure to watch out for you and to tell all my friends to do the same.

    Hm.

I'm sorry but I feel the umbrage taken by a few in this contest is a bit ungrown-up, even pretentious.
The lass is only 14 and though you might seek justification through her "needing to be told", at the end of the day it is her contest.
My own piece which I know is a good one was booted off, but I didn't see that as an excuse for a whinge. If anything it provoked in me a need for the young lady to be awarded some understanding.
There are several more important issues you could address re what is overall a great poetry site. And these are ever-presents: exclusion from contests through self-styled groupings: obvious and unconscious favouritism: the cliques supportive of these and the duress, however unintentional that might be, felt by contest-setters.
Have a moan about these instead.

  • I agree with the above commenter... she removed both my poems, but she did not use the same comment on both of my poems, and she isn't even a gold member so she can't use the quick comment button.
