    Attention Poets & Judges -

    Hello Poets

Just a reminder.....if you pull your work from a PO' Contest after a Read, Review, Critique & Score, you will be banned from future PO's....no exceptions......as we have this Rule in place for a reason -

We ask that you leave your work in place for several reasons....ie:

    1. Past Reference to scoring -

    2. Past Reference to Reviews -

    3. Past Reference for *he said, she said* -

    4. Past Reference for adjustments/ modifications to your Critiques -

    etc....

    Thank you,

    Bear -

    Excuse me...

But are you trying to say, that, now that a judge has even read my poem..I am not allowed to remove it...or I am banned? I don't see where, if it hasn't been commented on...what difference it would make...
Seems rules are added to this contest, on a whim...
perhaps you'll do me the favor of removing my poem...or will that ban me also?
If this comment goes away...so will I >>>AND my poem, although I doubt I have a chance at winning now that I have expressed myself...just a bad habit I have when something irks me!
    Thanks for listening

...you have just answered your own question -

....and what it seems about adding Rules on a whim here....you are sadly mistaken.....and you are most welcome to remove your own poem if your are not satisfied with the way the PO' Contests are run, it does not take me to do that.....and as far as winnning after expressing yourself....you make assumptions of my intentions as a Judge and Host....please do not do so, as I consider myself a fair and unbiased Judge.....God bless,

      Bear -

Thank you for clearing this up...

And just to clear things up here...I NEVER ASS u-me anything...I may presume things...but not assume.. Big difference!

If I may, in all fairness as a judge in this PO ~

I, personally, have "viewed" most (if not all) new entries --
this does NOT mean, however, that I have read it. I take a quick look to see if the entry has followed the basic rules (Author Notes, background, etc) & then send EVERYBODY a copy of the rules & suggestions (as listed on this page) so that all have a checklist to work with before we comment/judge. I do not consider a "view" as an actual read.

All judging is based on a criteria that has been established since the inception of this contest, and therefore does not allow for personal bias. Our scores are based on 10 separate categories per entry, x 4 judges (this PO', anyway).

We do thank you for entering and hope you keep your poem in the contest. Let's keep in mind that there is a 3-month Silver membership up for grabs (thanks to AP's owner, Kevin!), so every entry will be given an equal and unbiased chance at the Gold.

Thanks again, and let's all have a good time & an enjoyable contest!

      ~ Tim

So if it is viewed...it's okay to pull it...

without the "fear" of being banned? lol....
dazed and confused but staying to see how it is scored!
        Thanks....I always have fun!

          That's Bear's call...
For me, I know that I only glance until I am ready to read and score.

          But please, don't pull it!

    1. Can I enter a poem like less than 23 lines like 12 are they accepted ?
    2. If I deleted/removed the poem from the contest after the contest is over will I be banned ? if yes will be banned from AP or Banned to enter in future POM contests ?

      No....& yes -

Rules are there for a reason....too many Poets with, he said, she said, and then pulling work after getting mad, and then we USED to allow them the re-enter their work....and THEN, we got flack from other Poets saying we were breaking our own Rules.....and Judges having to settle arguements, etc....we hope you understand,

You'll be fine....trust in your first version -

When did I become a judge, and why was I not asked first? I'm horrible at judging and I would not be the type of judge you would want... I read and if I like it fine, but I don't judge on all of those stipulations, because then I would be a hypocrite cuz I suck at all of that stuff. Just saying...

You became a Judge when you placed in the Top 3 Spots in last weeks POW Contest....it is required of all Winners -

We do not ask you to be the BEST Judge....all we ask is that you be a part of the PO's and do your best -

Whether or not you suck at Judging, is not the point.....taking the time to be a part of the Judging panel is, as we rotate Judges and try to give each Poet (Winner), a chance to see what it takes to run the PO' Contests -

.....and yes, if you think I would not want your type of judging, you are mistaken....we encourage a Poets own personal style of reading, reviewing, critiquing and scoring writes in the PO' Contests.....just don't curse anyone out or insult them, and you'll be fine

    Attention Poets!

We strongly suggest, do NOT pull your work from a PO' Contest...it will ban you from ever joining us again....there is an explanation at the bottom of the Contest page in response to Shuberths questions....as well as on the PO' Contest Groups Page..>>>>

PS From what I have seen, all of you are doing great..a few areas of concern....but not bad....and once a Judge has touched your work....NO EDITING!

    ..hang in there!

      Well my sweet friend.

I know of at least.. two poems.. I will not be deleting.. The one here, and the one that won Bronze a couple of weeks past. Sounds like this time around. things have been out of hand.

But, I for one understand the reasoning behind it.

Well, if all would think. I am sure, many will see it.

For if it is written down. Then one can not claim otherwise.
Not to mention, You my friend do a great job with these contests.
I am honoured to be allowed to enter them.
For without you, there would be no 'PO' contests..
and so no need for the prizes you do give out.

Make that 2 who understands. I think you do a wonderful job with the contests...and I always mess up my poems! If I did not want to be judged, then I would not enter a contest. I also appreciate critique...it helps me grow as a poet. So...many thanks to you Bear and all those who judge.

    Capitalization

I noticed some suggestions how to capitalize the poems titles. Here is a link for all those who need it and maybe could be added as a part of PO rules:
    http://www.writers.com/tips_titles.html
For all those who don't have a time to read is, here is an excerpt of it:

The U.S. Government Printing Office Style Manual offers one easy style: "Capitalize all words in titles of publications and documents, except a, an, the, at, by, for, in, of, on, to, up, and, as, but, it, or, and nor." I guess that's about what I learned in first grade.

    and another useful link:

    http://www.clarityworksonline.com/articles/working-with-words/working-with-capitalization

    and this one:

    http://www.eths.k12.il.us/manual_of_form_and_style/capitalization.html

But, in poetry poets could go over this rules and do not need to capitalize any letter but must follow this "rule" in the whole poem, from the title to the last line.

    ~Sonja~
