Comments Contest

I find it interesting how many people begin contests and state plainly that they may or may not leave a comment on each entrant. Now, I may be opening myself up for chaos but I, personally, find that disrespectful - particularly if it is a "no prewrites" contest so each piece is written specifically for that contest holder's benefit.

So...

this contest was born. Now, because I hate it when my Muse is confined by rules & structure, I won't waste a lot of breath with rules but a few words to the wise:

- CHECK YOUR SPELLING! For Pete's sakes, I am an English major and spelling mistakes make me cringe.

- I don't personally care for rhyme so if you enter a poem that rhymes, it better be really, really, really good.

In return, I will comment on EVERY entry. I think it's conducive to us both growing as writers. If I like it, you will know. If I don't like it, you will know. But either way, you'll get a comment. And if I get some really terrific entries and I think judging is going to be made more difficult by quality, I will raise the points and add some HMs.

Any questions, message me.

Otherwise - be brilliant!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on March 18, 2009
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
I would like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to enter this contest. This is something I feel strongly about and I am happy to say that each of you contributed to making it the most gratifying contest I have held to date. So much so, that I intend on holding a Version 2.0 in the next few days, once I recuperate from commenting on forty tremendous poems.

Each one brought something singular and important to the table and whether I gave you a trophy or not, everything I said in your specific comment was only intended to help you. I would never deliberately hurt or anger anyone.

If you have a moment, please take the time to read and comment on some (if not all) the winners and entrants. I believe it helps us all and promotes stimulation of the Muse, which is never a bad thing!

    Wishing you nothing but happiness,
    Beān Sidħe

    Bravo my friend Bravo

I agree with you if we take the time to write they should take the time to comment. I was in a contest extended months and got no comment she is now ignoring me, I guess I told her how I felt

Or worse yet - when you actually take the time to write a specific poem for their contest and all you get is a "thanks for your entry". Blech.
      :-)

Anyway, hope you find the time to toss an entry into the mix!

I too think that we as contest hosts should be able to ask entrants to please comment on each others work; however, it is against AP policy to do so. If I enter, I don't require a comment, but you are correct in saying that it is rude not to. Writing isn't always easy and a muse is sometimes taking the day, if not the week off LOL.

    I so agree with you,

I feel that our writes and poems are out there to be judged and they took the time to enter, then take the time to comment,

    Blessings
