My favorites from a pure esthetics view are the off colored horses. Below are a few different colors to choose from. Your task is to write a poem or prose that relates to one of the following.
The pictures are taken from Google, and their original site links are included. You may get a larger or better picture at the link site.

Rules:
- Any style, length or form except haiku.
- Spelling matters
- PW's allowed, even encouraged...give me something that is polished and edited.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 29
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 250, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 1 people
- Final notes: Thanks to everyone who entered, this was very enjoyable and all entries were worthy reads. I had a difficult time choosing amongst the finalists, and shuffled the order many times. On another day, I might have 4 different winners, but for today, I had to choose, and did so based on the effect the poems had on me.
This is a topic dear to my heart and it's nice to read of others experience and memories. May we all ride these memories into the hills of yesteryear and enjoy the magnificence of the horse.

If you are interested in adding a paint for your consideration...let me know...I have a terrific one...and would love to write about her...

I added the Pinto to the list, as this is about color not breed, but bring on the Paint!!

That palomino looks like my old mare Amber Mist

The Palomino is a beautiful horse.

Great pics, Hon.. I love horses of a different color too, but I'd have to go with a dappled steel gray with black mane and tail as one of my most favorites (having owned a great QH years ago with that color)..

-
I'd have to agree with you, that and the silver grulla are my favorites.

People plz read my entry and tell me what you think! I'm kind of new at this and I just wanted to know if any of you more experienced people could give me some advice or constructive criticism...I love horses, too!!!

Grullos/grullas, roans, and duns are my favorites, personally. Though, bay and brown aren't really the same thing. A bay horse has black legs, mane, and tail, IIRC, where a brown horse doesn't.

-
Very true about the bay, thanks for the info!

-
O, I bet on the gray mare, and I bet on the bay,
If I'd bet on Old Stewball, I'd be a rich man today.
-
My own favorite is the Appaloosa., especially the blanket pattern. But I have to admit that I find the Dapple Grey and the Blue Roan to beautifully marked as well.
-
-
Appies are very beautiful, though I must confess I've had some bad luck with one. Feel free to write on an Appaloosa if you like.

What absolutely beautiful horses! I'm afraid I haven't had much personal experience with these animals and don't feel qualified to write.
-
Well, since you ask...
