Hello and welcome everyone! I took a little bit of a break from AP, but I guess I got lured back. This contest is going to be rather quick, but I hope you enjoy yourselves. There will be one picture as a prompt, but it is open to many interpretations. I don't mind if you like rhyme, free verse, various poetry styles...just keep the profanity and erotica out, please. (I have it screened out so I won't be able to view your poem if you do make it erotic.)
I know you might groan at the fact that I would like new poetry and in a shorter amount of time, but I really don't appreciate seeing a string of trophies attached to the poem, which could feel like its trying to force me to believe it is a good poem. Also, I will read all the poems again when judging, so that I feel better about what I'm picking for winners. This also means that you are free to correct your poem and make little adjustments up until judging time. In fact, I encourage you to re-read your own poem, just so you catch those accidental little mistakes that slip in there from time to time.
Now for the prompt:

(Note that since I am not a gold/silver member the image won't show. If it doesn't appear as a link, please copy and paste the address into the address bar, and you can see it.)
*About the photo: I actually took this picture myself, so please don't claim rights to it. I have it posted on my Deviant Art account as well, which I would rather not link because I don't like quite a bit of my art. I should really throw out a lot of my old pictures.
Rules:
-no swearing/profanity/expletives, etc.
-no erotica
-feel free to interpret the picture in any way you want
-If you feel the way you were moved by the picture is too obscure, please explain in your author comments. (I do tend to read those.)
-all poetry types welcome
-Give me literacy!
-NO sticky caps
-If I think of anything else I'll just add it.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 1
- Rewards: Gold: 700, Silver: 300, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Thank you to everyone for their entries! There were so many good poems that it was hard to decide. It was awesome to see how one picture could be interpreted in so many ways. I hope everyone here is proud of themselves, even if you didn't win anything. The fact that you took of your spare time to join my contest is wonderful in and of itself. So, give yourselves pats on the back and keep writing!

Most certainly is a beautiful picture, but I cant think that abstractly. I dont think I would do well on this piece... But I know you will get some wonderful entries from all the very talented poets here!
