Versatility Challenge

I recently won Silver in Danna Hobart's contest "how versatile a poet are you" http://allpoetry.com/contest/2435255 and enjoyed the challenging concept of the contest.

So I am going to pay it forward in the same fashion.

As per the rules of Danna's contest, you will be required to write 3 poems within the 1 entry.
All 3 must utilise the same theme, however each must be explored through pre nominated metaphors.

Theme choice is up to the poet - whether it be love, nature, political, fantasy etc. but must remain consistent through the 3 pieces.

Metaphors selected by me are shown below:

1. A Scrapbook
2. A Fault Line
3. A Mirror

For example if you choose your theme to be "love" then write about it being "a scrapbook", "a fault line" and finally "a mirror".

Please title each individual piece within the entry, after judging you may wish to change it to vignette style.

Subtle reference to each metaphor is good - don't be too vague, abstract or obvious. Style and form up to the poet.

Do not use any images with your entry, let the words alone paint a picture.

Due to the nature of this contest it may be beneficial to avoid being too verbose in each individual piece.

The contest will most likely remain open until late March to allow plenty of time to complete your entry - if you reserve please have it finished by the time it closes - incomplete entries will be removed.

Trophy winners are also encouraged not to withdraw their entry after contest is completed.

Any questions, please IM me, otherwise go forth and let your quills dance.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on April 7
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 4 people
  • Final notes:
I truly appreciate everyone's patience with the delay in judging, due to a hectic schedule of late it couldn't be avoided so once again thank you.

I was impressed by all the entries, everyone had their own unique twist to the given metaphors and my mind was treated to pieces that tugged me in several directions. Kudos for that to all.

It irks me a little that the site has limited the trophies that may be awarded as you all deserve due recognition of your efforts here. Congrats to the winners and to all for being blessed with such creative inspiration

I love the metaphors that you chose! I will definitely try to come up with something. Life is a little crazy right now, so I am not sure I am up to the challenge.

I am glad you enjoyed my contest.
