I like to write when I travel. I find it offers the best kind of inspiration. I spent last weekend upstate New York and have about 12 pages worth of notes I took on the way up and the way back on the bus.
Traveling, the space between one place and another feels to me like a small lifetime we can hold close and separate from everything else we are required to do and be on a daily basis.
Write me a lifetime from one of these prompts.
- Jennifer left her flowers in New Hyde Park
- Queen City of the Sound
- Armonk, NY
- Nude furniture - custom made in Jericho
- Dignity Funeral Home and Cremation - Brooklyn, NY
- Spirit Insurance - White plains, NY
Okay - Rules
1. Left align
2. Plain backgrounds, no borders, no flashy things that give me a seizure. Simple, plain backgrounds. If I can't read your poem, I won't.
3. Prompt in author notes, and nothing else please.
4. If you must rhyme, please do so skillfully or be prepared to feel my wrath.
5. Free verse AND prose are both okay.
6. No images.
7. Be brave - consider a collaboration.
An aside:
Normally I make my contests favorites only, I realize that is unfair and won't do that this time around, but please bear in mind I am looking for high caliber work here, if you don't feel confident competing with the people who ARE on my favorites list, re-think, re-write, edit, and give me good quality work.
I may or may not comment on each entry. I reserve the right to remain silent should I so choose.
I may or may not add another judge to this contest.
Good luck and happy writing.

Now I know I'm being dense here, but what exactly do you mean "write me a lifetime", I'd love to enter but don't want to steam in with something completely running the wrong way.
