There are several different choices for this contest but they all require some form of thought and knowledge. This is not just a contest for which you can just write anything. I would like people to do some kind of research into the genre they choose before entering.
The choices are:
1. An Aubade
2. A Petrarchan sonnet (in style of content as well as form)
3. A poem in the style of the metaphysical poets.
4. An emblem poem
5. An Old English Elegy (I would like to clarify that if anyone attempts to put something in for this that shows they don't know the difference between old english and middle english they will be instantly disqualified. I do not expect anyone to be able to actually write in old english and even if they could I wouldn't be able to read it I just want the style.
Rules:
1. Do not enter anything which does not fit the criteria specifically (I will be able to tell if you're just entering some random prewrite with nothing to do with any category)
2. Mature intelligent poetry please.
3. Sticky caps are a plague upon humanity.
4. innacurate spelling and grammar will be tolerated as long as they are not hugely prevelent (none of us are perfect)
5.Write which category your poem is intended to fit in with in the author notes.

- Contest was judged on February 26
- Rewards: Gold: 900, Silver: 500, Bronze: 250, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: This was a dificult contest to judge because they were all so good. I've noticed almost all the finalists were from one style but that was not deliberate it just happens that those were the ones I thought were best. Thank you to everyone who entered.

This was an interesting contest.
Congratulations to Aedara-Wren for setting it up and judging it.
Congratulations to the other poets, especially the dual trophy winner, micol (Michael).
