The Power of Believing.

"Believe in the power of believing.

Say "I believe," and believe it. Believe in something, anything, that gives you the courage and strength to continue on when it would be so easy to give up. Believe me when I say that you're beautiful. Believe me when I tell you "You deserve to be happy."

Believe that you have choices and that you can choose wisely.

                      Above all, believe in yourself.

It's easy for me to believe in every single thing you do. . .

Because I believe in every bit of who you are."

Author is unknown.

This contest was inspired by conversations I've had with a few of my friends.

Unlike my other contests, this one will have some rules.

1. DO NOT PREACH to me. (please)

2. I dont want politics, OR RELIGION in this contest. (huh?)

Spirituality is what I'm looking for, not religion.

My example is posted above, springboard from that.

3. Be sincere.

If you enter a piece about little blue gnomes that live under your bed, and only come out at night, and change everything around in your living room before you awaken each morning. . . .

GREAT!

But BE SINCERE about believing in them.

Hint to give you the advantage:

[free verse is what I prefer, but I know some of you cannot get away from rhyme. If you need to rhyme, or write in form, that's okay too.]

Love, Jin

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on February 26
  • Rewards: Gold: 601, Silver: 402, Bronze: 303, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
This was honestly the most difficult contest I've ever had to judge. Some of you went way beyond my expectations, but you all penned something truly personal and true. I thank you sincerely for that. I am proud of myself for having the courage to host such a meaningful prompt, but even more proud of you for giving me what I sought. Whether you know it or not, your words have helped me sustain myself through some pretty difficult moments in my life.
For that, I love you all.
    Love always,
    jin

Looks like a great inspirational theme...

And you are also a beautiful lady, with a heart of gold and the wits of a poet laureate. Did anyone ever mention that you look like the late Sylvia Plath? Well, I believe you do - seriously - are you two related? I would love to enter, but my muse is on vacation at this time. I'm wishing you all the best in your contest. Take care, keep smiling, & believe you are loved.

      Sylvia? Really.
      You're something else Cyn.
The contest will remain open for two weeks, if your muse decides to come back.
I would love to see you here.
      Okay?
Thank you for the sweet words.
I love you too, my sister.

I love your writing my friend. I welcome you to this contest, or any of the other 15 I have posted. This quote came from a card I received in the mail today. It made me cry like a baby. The right place-right time sort of thing.
Take all the time you need, no rush.

I will write for this. I have spent too much of my life saying belief is for fools and often gets you killed. Faith and knowledge.
    Love, Tom B.
