Last round, you all managed to successfully pull-off writing letters in prose. This round, as part of what is expected to be accomplished by the winner of X Factor, you will be writing
a L'Arora - A form created by Laura that combines both free verse and rhyme. Form details can be found here: http://allpoetry.com/column/2348667
Your prompts: Choose a landmark [for example: The Statue of Liberty, Niagara Falls, The World Trade Center, etc.]. Your job is to incorporate some aspect of your chosen landmark into your poem.
Even though this poem is not written in L'Arora format, it serves as an example of landmark-inspiration: "notre dame" http://allpoetry.com/poem/4916833
In this poem, here are some "notre dame" terms and ideas I used: flying buttrices, gargoyles, evil spirits, satan, gospels, pews, etc.
Basically, I used the architecture and theme of Notre Dame as inspiration. You do not have to do the same for your landmark. You can use historical events that happened at your chosen landmark - anything! as long as it is relevant.
RULE:
Provide an explanation of your chosen landmark, and what about this landmark that inspired you, and anything interesting about the landmark that applies to the poem. I am expecting a few sentences, not a novella.
Hopefully all of us will learn some new, interesting things about important places around the world.
Your goal is to display emotion and creativity - poetic device is essential to this form and judges will be critical during grading.
Deadline:
Note #1: Rubric
Originality 10/10
Creativity/Poetic device 10/10
Line-breaks/emphasis/flow/structure 10/10
balance of abstraction/imagery/ideas 10/10
Cohesion 10/10
Emotion/personality/edge 10/10
Impact/Reaction 10/10
mechanics: 5/5
rules followed: 5/5
diction/verbiage: 5/5
syntax: 5/5
Title: 5/5
overall opinion: 5/5
Extra credit ~ X Factor: 5/5
Total possible: 100
Upon completion of this round, all poems penned shall be added to Laura's list on the form's column, so others at AP can appreciate them too.
Deadline: Saturday, January 31st @ 6PM EST.
Good luck!

-
-
lol - one thing that annoys me about spam.
but i'm guilty of doing it too, so...
-
-
-
weird, it didn't even notify me that you posted it o.o thanks for announcing it to the group then lol
-
oh crap
i started writing.. and i wrote two stanzas until i remembered about the landmark thing.

ahhh
well goodluck to all
-
-
I think you should keep writing it -
and then just tie a location [the landmark] in there.
there are soooo many places.
i'm sure you could figure out something.
if not, then...good luck.

-

Note to self:
"I built you with lonely hands" was entered at 6:13pm on my clock, 13 minutes after the deadline.
That means there will be a 5 point penalty from the overall score.
