I've been seeing a lot of contests recently pertaining to sadness and teen angst. So, I have decided to start a contest that is focused on the opposite of the bitching and whining that I've been reading.
I want poetry that takes the pain or sadness you are feeling and lets go of it. Imagine as if you are writing a letter to the universe and giving your problems and worries to the trees, clouds, sky, animals, insects, gras, etc.
Now hears the catch, i want it to be elegant and intelligent. I want real problems here. I don't want to read about the painful break up of a two week relationship that you just thought was gonna last forever. I don't want to hear about your dog died either.
So, here is what i do want to read about:
Saying good bye to a loved one recently deceased
Accepting your own flaws(if you do something like this, please try to embrace your flaws and be a little positive. this doesn't have to be dark, it can be, but show me you are actually proud of who you are)
shedding the twilight you feel so lonely in
feeling as if your life is going no where
anger towards the world. express it, release it, exhale.
sorrow formulated by the neglect of a parent or lover(if lover i mean someone who you've been with for long enough that you can tell they are in the room because you can smell the soap they use in the shower)
etc.
etc.
etc.
Think of this as just exhaling poetry. breathe out whatever you need to get rid of and let it go. just let it go.
i want every writer to make a pact with me. After you enter your poem, you will let go of the problem, and let the universe take care of your problem. Everytime that feeling comes back, just reread your poem and let it absorb that energy, and let it go. If you want to make the pact feel real enter "I solemnly swear to let this go" in the AN. You don't have to if you don't want to.
This is a theraputic contest. now, go, and breathe out your suffering and let me feel it. i'll carry it for you.
Rules:
1. please not chat lingo
2.NoNe Of ThIs PlEaSe
3.don't write like 7#15 either
4.no dirty pretty please

Just FYI, to some of us, a dog dying is a big deal. They're not just fashion accessories to everybody.

just FYI, the first poem deals with that subject matter and i let it stay because the emotions were mature and appropriate. i don't want poems about the death of a dog because even when a dog dies it is a fleeting anger and depression, then the owner gets a new dog and fondly remembers the memory of the old one.
i'm sorry you are overtly sensitive and probably have a huge problem dealing with things, but don't leave me a nasty comment on my contest because i don't want to hear about how lucky isn't so lucky anymore. I'll tel you what, if you can enter a poem about the death of a dog and i feel you wrote an approriate poem for the contest, i'll let it stay like the other one. If not, i will DQ it.
Also, if you left that comment and had no intention of writing a poem about the death of a dog and just wanted to start a fight, take your bickering habits somewhere else. i have not time for people who feel the need to fight over everything. How dare you even accuse me of thinking that of animals. As a new age pagan i cherish all aspects of life, but have learned that death is a natural part of the cycle. Don't you even accuse me of something when you don't know me.

Uh... what?
I said, "FYI, dogs matter to some people." That's all I said. Where do you get over-sensitivity or being upset or any kind of strong emotional reaction at all from that? I just wanted to point out that to some people dogs -- or other pets -- are family, and it isn't just a transient pain to lose one. Period. End of story. Nothing more. I fail to understand what part of my comment was "nasty". I didn't insult you for not wanting poems you see as trivial, nor did I insist you accept poems of that nature. All I said was that some people see things differently from you. Nothing else was said or implied. Nothing! And I had no intention whatsoever of "starting a fight" or otherwise causing drama, either.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. No offense meant, but seriously, the only person who seems to be overreacting emotionally here is you. I was, actually, thinking of writing something along those lines, in fact. But I won't now, as obviously even if I write with my deepest, truest emotions, you'll take anything I present as mockery or otherwise negative. So please feel free to forget I ever said anything. Your reaction says to me that you aren't interested in hearing other people's thoughts, regardless of how politely or neutrally they're presented. My sincere apologies for bothering you.
And because I just noticed this: I never *accused* you of anything, either. I thought it was obvious that I was referring to those people who cart dogs around for image purposes -- girls with little dogs in purses, men with "tough" dogs like pit bulls and Rottweilers -- and don't value them in any other real way. Obviously not, at least to you, but seriously, I wasn't referring to you.
