transcendentalism

picture here... not sure why it's not showing up

its spirit, its pursuit, or its failings

"transcendentalism claims to have a true knowledge of all things, material and immaterial, human and divine, so far as the mind is capable of knowing them"

-dictionary.com

"I am the lover of uncontained and immortal beauty. In the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in streets or villages. In the tranquil landscape, and especially in the distant line of the horizon, man beholds somewhat as beautiful as his own nature."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Nature"

prose or poetry.
no line requirement.
pretty much anything goes.

        i figured ha.
idk, i probably should, but just from what ive heard about it, idk, it just seems ridiculous that someone would exclude humanity from their notion of universal truth...
        trees are great,
but they don't say more about the world than people do.
        or maybe they do? ha

it's kind of interesting, but a lot of it is more detail than necessary. the first 5-10 pages really tell you the main points... if you're ever at a bookstore just read those

as for trees/humanity... it's more like, he hates how humans work themselves to death and wanted to see if it was possible to live on virtually nothing with no societal strings attached
