Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boc7rnhkLAk

Aah, look at all the lonely people
Aah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near.
Look at him working.
Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Aah, look at all the lonely people
Aah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Rules:
1. No profanity (Not because we're young - merely a shared pet peeve).
2. No adult - frankly, we can't view it.
3. No sticky caps.
4. Mind your grammar rules, please!
5. Our attention spans are short, but they require more than ten lines.
6. Make sure that we can see the influences from the song, but you don't have to make it overly obvious.
7. Have fun!

If the rules are broken, you will be warned once and if the change is not made within twenty-four hours, the entry will be removed.

Each entry will be commented on at one point or another.
Note: Each comment will be constructive criticism.

Good luck!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on January 23
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100
  • Final notes:
Thank you so much for each entry!

Each entry was penned with brilliance and effort. We both enjoyed learning how others interpreted this song as far as their imagination goes. All entries were a joy to read.

It was a close call with who got the trophy, and finally resorted to adding in a silver and a bronze. (They were that good.) The ones with the greatest theme from this prompt are as follows:

    Gold - Alone
    Silver - Us and Them.
    Bronze - Waiting

    Thank you all!
