The contest is pretty simple but there are some rules.
Please read this page entirely. Thanks.
For the contest:
We ran across a very cool site with a color wheel. So for this contest we will be using that wheel to pick the colors/titles of your poems.
Please go to this site http://chir.ag/projects/name-that-color/
There you will see a color wheel on the left hand side and a box on the right.
Take your mouse and point to any spot on the CIRCLE of the color wheel
between the two arrows pictured below:
Once you do that you will see that the SQUARE in the center of the circle has all sorts of shades of the color mentioned above.
Click on the box with your mouse and you will notice that when you do, the RECTANGULAR box on the right will fill up with the color AND above it, give the name of that particular color.
Click around in the SQUARE until you find a color/title that suits you or has not been chosen by another poet. This will be the title/color/inspiration for your poem.
Reserve your spot in the contest by entering with just the NAME OF THE COLOR as your title. That way it is clear that color has been taken.
Then write a poem in 12 lines or less inspired by that title/color.
It can be any subject that it inspires you to write about.
Let it trigger your muse into writing about what it makes you think, feel, remember, wish for etc.
Just be sure that all your poems are completed by the contest close date.
**Please note that in some hues there are colors in the box that you would not normally deem as shades of "green" for example. That is totally fine. Because they ARE hues of green. So if it looks gray but comes up in that center square you can use it****Just be sure the little circle (pointer) on the color wheel is between the hues pictured above****
Rules:
1) No two entries can have the same title/color. So make sure to check and see if your color is listed before you reserve.
And Make sure your color is used as your title so others can see it.
2) If the write has adult content, please mark it as such.
3) You may enter up to 10 times but must use a different color each time.
4) All poems must be 12 LINES or LESS.
All entries will be commented on prior to judging but maybe not before then so don't worry if you are not viewed right away or commented on; you will be.
Good luck everyone. I hope this is fun and ispiring for you all.
